View Full Version : flohost problems
has anyone else had problems with flohost?
ive been looking at the forum and found a few ppl here who had problems but many ppl who didnt...
i love their prices but ive been registered for 3 days and they still have not set up my account.. i talked to travis from there and he said he would when he woke up at 1:30 in the afternoon,
but then he signed off and i havent heard from him since..
then i contacted Robert from there, and he said its not his department and went off and started playing computer games...
now this is very unproffesional and i saw that the other person who had problems had to post here in order to get her hosting working... i guess ill take taht route...
just a warning for ppl who are considering flohost....
3 days. I would look for another host period.
my latest conversation with them:
ruaddesign: any updates on my situation?
resmcse: nope, sorry.
ruaddesign: is it that hard to set up an account, jeez ive been waiting almost 3 days...
resmcse: I'm sorry. That's not my department. I simply don't have access to any of that.
ruaddesign: ok so ur gonna play a game instead of contacting whoever can fix my problem?
Auto response from resmcse: I am not available because I am playing a computer game that takes up the whole screen.
ruaddesign: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=62630
resmcse: As i've said to you before, this isn't my department. I have questioned Travis, seeing as how he's away on business, I can't exactly make it go any faster.
resmcse: Also, just so you know, I am not a member of the "payed staff" - Therefore, if I'd like to play a game, or whatever, then so be it.
disgusting no?
apparently travis left on a business trip within 20 minutes of talking to me, although he woke up at 1:30 in the afternoon
they certainly arent getting my business, regardless of the excellent prices
davidb 07-24-2002, 02:51 PM Simple fact is that he is lieing to you. He said he would do it. Then he said he couldnt do it. And even if it really isent his department, you should still leave if he is unable for three days to talk to someone to setup your account
rob_smidwap 07-24-2002, 02:52 PM Greetings,
This is Robert from flohost.com. I am not a payed member of the staff, I simply help Travis out from time to time. I have no access to adding accounts, deleting, creating, or fixing any problems. All of that I rely on Travis for. Since I have no idea how long Travis has been gone for (I myself have been gone since Friday morning, July 19th, 2002) I am unable to speed up your problems at all.
TimPD 07-24-2002, 03:04 PM Travis, has posted a number on his site for contact. Have you tried to call him?
yup well i talked to robert
hes agreed with me on how flohost is bad
but Robert is a VP of www.swidmap.com
and has offered to deal with me and provide hosting from there
so in the end:
Flohost is bad, and very inpersonal and unproffesional only because of its President
and Swidmaps good because they have offered me very competitive hosting because Robert works at Flohost
thanks guys
TimPD 07-24-2002, 03:06 PM Hello,
I do believe that Robert as a staff of FloHost shouldn't be offering hosting to you. If I'm not mistaken staff isn't supposed to offer there hosting to FloHost staff. That is very unprofessional.
im not going to waste my hard earned money on calling a long distance number, to someone who wakes up at 1:30 in the afternoon and leaves his customers hanging on AIM...
i think it was very proffesion for Robert to offer me hosting that would make up for the lackings of another company he works for unpaid, :D
rob_smidwap 07-24-2002, 03:16 PM Greetings again,
I suggested hosting with Smidwap.com simply because he wasn't happy with Flohost. I am not a payed member of the Flohost staff, so why should I honestly worry about if they lose a customer? I figured since I couldn't help him out at all with Flohost, that I'd suggest an option that I could help him out with. So, he's happy, I'm happy. How is that not proffessional? The customer is top priority, and I am out to make them happy. Thanks.
PS: I've since quit flohost.com, and Travis will get the notification to remove my name from the staff page.
i agree, Robert acted very proffesionally

Lets just keep in mind it is Smidwap, not Swidmap. :D
I've heard us called Smidwarp, Smithwap, Smardwap, etc. Maybe we should get another name:stickout ?

I would like to clear a couple things up:
1.) You never talked to me, I do not tell people when I wake up.
2.) Is it illegal to wake up at 1:30 in the afternoon?

RobTheGolfer 07-26-2002, 09:43 AM I know most fo these guys in this argument here. Let me share my opion.
Smidwap - (Matt) - He is a really nice guy and knows how to take care of the customer. He has had much experience in the last few months helping our Customer Support team.
Robert - (Use to work for Flohost, now works for Smidwap) - He even worked for us about 8 months ago. He has many priorities over web hosting and keeping the customer happy.
I know all of the Smidwap team (Robert, Steve, and Matt). They are pretty good guys and Matt definatly goes farther then he has to to make the customer happy.
Flohost - I do not know them or ever experience their services so I cannot say anything about them.
In conclusion, I would choose Smidwap over Flohost because of Smidwap's experience with customer care.
Those are just my two cents. :D
Chachi 07-26-2002, 10:41 AM I know Travis personally, and have known him for a long time, well before he started flohost web services. I do agree he is running his company unprofessionally, but unlike the spammers, site rippers and total frauds we meet and hear of on this board, he is commited to his business. His revealed to me how much he spent on the design for his new site so it's without a doubt that he believes in investment to improve the business. He just needs to start investing in a proper support staff.
If memory serves me well, there's also a new company which deals with the PR aspects of the web host's business that's just started up, they've posted in the related offers and requests forum... I would certainly look them over, see if they can be of any help.
nvphone 07-26-2002, 11:16 AM Sounds to me like some kid with a server in his bedroom running it off his kiddie AOL account!
To busy coloring in his coloring books.
Do a charge back, reason"FRAUD",ie: taking money without giving customer goods or service for which they paid for.
If you want service move, if you just want to play, stay...........
RobTheGolfer 07-26-2002, 11:54 AM ummmmmmmmmm........ok...

Anyways, I've been hosted on FloHost for almost a year now, I have have to say that their service is great.
This recent lack of service was because Travis is on a trip (vacation).
People can't be sitting in front of their computer all day, now, can they? Everybody deserves a break, so why can't he?
All you people bashing a 'kid' who is running a host -- go ask yourself, why on earth would a 'kid' go and answer emails, and provide perliminary support at the cost of dollars per minute for inflated wireless long-distance internet all at his expense?
Why? It is because he is dedicated.
Now, shape up you kiddies and look at this from a more objective prospective.

Travis -
These are not the advertising forums. This is to DISCUSS other web hosts, not to advertise your own business. Just in case: I speak for myself.
Yes, that is exactly what it states on my contant page.
That is for emergency support. IF the emergency phone call stated that we had server outage that we did not know of, we would not charge a penny. Emergency support is meant for people who have clients who are in need of viewing this or that on their web site, and they would lose money if their web site was not functioning correctly for their clients. If you really would like to talk to us for other reasons, we can setup our clients with a time to talk on the phone if they wish. All these are just my business decisions. :stickout
Anyways, if you need emergency support, I am on my AOL Instant Messenger almost 24x7 (one does have to sleep). Also, we are setting up so we recieve a phone call when the server is down, so there will be no need to inform us :D .
I refuse to go on and try to talk bad about FloHost as I would find that very unprofessional on my part. I will leave that for other WHT members to do.
As for what eisecure had to say, I am going away too over the weekend. I have emailed all of my clients stating so, and I have also gotten Steve, a staff member of mine, to fill in for support over the weekend. I have even gotten a good, professional friend to take any orders over the weekend. Hmm....:o  :stickout

Flohost the name has only been around for a year, prior to starting Flohost I worked as co-owner for several other webhosting companies. Each time I left one of those companies I would carry some customers over, eiSecure is one of these customers that has been with me since the very beginning. I just wanted to clear that up because Flohost has only been around 7 months.

RobTheGolfer 07-26-2002, 04:59 PM Travis, you seem like an ok guy. :)
FloHost 07-26-2002, 05:56 PM Rob,
I want to meet you, I am glad that you are a good person. I know for a fact you are because you are a friend of a former friend. Obviously Robert Saunders runs his own agenda. Maybe we could talk sometime? Let me know. When I read your post it made me feel a lot better about what I am doing. Thank you, I can not tell you enough how much I appreciate your support. I am not trying to bash other hosts, I just want to keep things on the up and up. It is hard with people like the above around, but I will make it through. I know that my reputation could never be ruined because I do my best to keep it good. They can not take that away from me however they can seriously damage it but I know that I will always recover. If you need any help with anything please let me know. Once again, thank you!

If you can't tell how old he is, then there is no reason to ask, unless it is going to be used against him.
FloHost 07-26-2002, 07:43 PM I am 17 years old, I tell my age to everyone who asks because it is only fair that they know. Especially customers.
TimPD 07-26-2002, 07:44 PM Hello,
I have to admit Travis is a good guy I have dealt with him in the past and still do deal with him on a normal basic. We're friends and he is a good guy. Travis, does a good job on running the company at his age he has never been unprofessional to me. He has always been like that to me always professional.

That's nice to know. Some people your age lie and pretend to be older, at least you're honest.

Good for you. I wish I was 17 and starting out a web hosting business. You've got so much infront of you. Just never lose sight of the big responsibility it is to run a hosting business. Keep your cashflows always positive and your head down. Just think where your business will be when you're 30. :)
Oh yeah, don't forget to have a life too. There's more to life than work. :)
