ckpeter 07-24-2002, 12:44 PM Are those XP "certified" to be functional? (meaning they don't have heating problems?)
Peter
headsurfer 07-24-2002, 12:47 PM XP 1700s are all good. It was the XP 1900s that we no longer sell that we had heating problems with.
When will you have the 10 MB unmetered Cogent servers available?
Andre

Jubei 07-29-2002, 11:54 PM How is this 'Important' ? :stickout
- Jubei...
ckpeter 07-30-2002, 12:03 AM This is just a paid advertisement position. The wording is a little misleading. Probably "sticky" would be better.
Hope I answered your question.
Peter
Hello,
Not know so much about dedicated servers at RS, do they all come with general languages and protocols such as php/mysql, perl, ssi, javascript, etc. pre-installed? Or do I have to install them myself?
ckpeter 07-30-2002, 01:08 AM Yes, all the usual programs comes with the installation. And if not, you can always install it yourself.
Peter
Ok thanks for the info, ckpeter. My next questions, if I buy one of their servers, they will give me their nameservers perhaps "ns1.rackshack.net" and "ns2.rackshack.net", right? I just send them an e-mail and request them for my own nameservers? Is that how it works?
ckpeter 07-30-2002, 02:05 AM I am not sure what you mean. I think you can use their name servers, or you can implement your own.
I don't mean to be offensive, but you don't sound too familar with server administration. You may want to look at some other options besides Rackshack, as they do not provide *any* managed service at all. Anything other then hardware or network issue, you are on your own.
Peter
You're right, I do not know know much about server admin, but I was just curious about what you get from a dedicated server. ;)
Edit: I meant to say "I do not know..." My bad.
Furton 07-30-2002, 08:47 AM If RS own this forum, and other hosting companies pay for these "important" threads, who do RS pay?
fernandodl 07-30-2002, 11:55 AM RS pay to RS :stickout

yes they do DNS for you. Don't need to send email, it's all automated in the members section.
