I would like to change the IP info in the whois database.
Example: if you check the hosting company below you will see the following info
Check:
http://whois.domaintools.com/ivhosting.com
Notice:
IP Location - New Jersey - Clifton - Fortressitx
Now you know they lease the servers from fortessitx.com
I would like to prevent that. Does anyone know how to change the IP Location info to read mysite.com?
Thanks

It's probably getting that from whom ARIN assigns the IPs to. You can ask the company to reassign your IPs to you, but that may not affect the name (based on how it does the lookup).
Aside from that, you can't without your own IP allocation.

Yeah.. either you directly assign from ARIN.. it will still show even with swip.

If you have a large enough block of IPs, you may be able to get your provider to submit a SWIP template to ARIN to show the IPs as being re-assigned to you. A WHOIS check at ARIN will still show that FortressITX is the parent for the block, but most lookup tools will show your registration information first, since it's a more specific block. One of our upstream providers was nice enough to do this for us for a block as small as a /28 (16 IPs).

Thanks bqinternet
I use your backup service...its great!
WHT most be doing the same thing you suggested because a whois search
http://whois.domaintools.com/webhostingtalk.com
shows:
District Of Columbia - Washington - College Summit
BUT they are hosted at Rackspace.com
So WHT must have submited a SWIP template to ARIN
Thanks

I think that's just a case of the previous user's information still showing up. Rackspace should have had it changed when they reassigned the IPs to WHT.
