View Full Version : Control Panel / Billing software / Ticket System
tungtor 08-03-2007, 09:55 AM Hey, I'm getting my hands dirty messing around with control panels, billing software, and ticket support before I try and start my free hosting / pay hosting site. I've read the boards quite a bit and most people think you should use Helm for windows (49.99 for umlimited) and Plesk for Linux. My Dedicated server is running Windows Server 2003 and it came with a free Plesk 8 license for 30 domains though, so I'm kinda leaning towards that at the moment. So my preferece right now is at the moment Plesk 8 for the control panel and WHCMS for the billing/support. Since its looking like the cheapest solution since Helm doesn't include a ticket system although it does provide integrated billing. If anyone has any information or suggestions please let me know. BTW I'm using Windows so I can host ASP.NET and MSSQL so don't tell me to switch to Linux! Haha, thanks.
webmanbam 08-03-2007, 07:39 PM hsphere was pretty good when i took a look see at it. Had billing. Ticket etc on it and seemed pretty easy to use and get used to (after i had used cpanel etc)

Yea Billing System is much improved in the new HC version, specially it is very easy now to test billing system with any payment gateway in the Test Mode.
web_host_guy_007 08-08-2007, 02:34 AM Check out DotNetPanel (www.dotnetpanel.com (http://www.dotnetpanel.com)). It has ecommerce and billing support.

H-Sphere is pretty cool, but it only runs on Linux...
jerett 08-08-2007, 10:16 AM Hsphere is able to run clusters of Linux and Window servers. Just to note. It is probably the best all in one solution for web hosting.
snooty 08-08-2007, 12:31 PM ASFAIK, H-Sphere can provide hosting on both Linux and Windows, but has to be installed on Linux...

Not very sure though :uhh:
dynamicnet 08-08-2007, 09:48 PM Greetings:
I’m not sure if H-Sphere from http://www.psoft.net/ would be a fit since it does require certain logical services to run in a Unix-environment; but, if you are looking for complete hosting automation then H-Sphere is pretty much alone in its economic class (i.e. no true competition for the economics of running H-Sphere).
H-Sphere does not require you to switch from Windows to Linux; only that the core automation is handled on Unix with ASP.Net, Cold Fusion, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft IIS being handled by Windows 200x Server.
H-Sphere includes a support ticket system, automated billing, and a large number of other features for which the overwhelming majority is fully documented at http://www.psoft.net/HSdocumentation/index.html
If you want automatic provisioning of hosting accounts, you can do so with fraud control in the form of signup guard -- http://www.psoft.net/HSdocumentation/admin/signup_guard.html -- as well as an add-on from H-Sphere templates for additional fraud prevention -- http://www.hspheretemplates.com/fraudcheck.php
There’s a large amount more, and it is typically the overwhelming amount of automation and documentation that keep people from experiencing the best of hosting automation.
One that when you get through the extreme high end learning curve that a lot of people just cannot handle (I’m not sure why they are not up to the challenge, or they quit too easy…), the rest is down hill.
We switched to H-Sphere close to five years ago; and have since saved in the five figures due to the hosting automation.
Thank you.
Tech Entrance 08-12-2007, 12:15 AM How about cpanel as control panel and WHMCS.com as billing system ?
the control panel is something that you must let the clients choose it and they all love cpanel
for billing system, it's up to you but WHMCS has it all ;)

He is on windows
dotcomUNDERGROUND 08-12-2007, 07:21 AM WHMCS does include its own helpdesk module.
But if you want to maximize the productivity of your support stuffs, i think you better use kayako, support trio or cerberus for helpdesk.
Support trio would be my pick though :)

I guess it depends on who is your customer.
Most small to medium business customers we know -- nationally -- could not name the control panel they are currently using, and could care less as long as they are able to easily do what they need to do.
Thank you.
jerett 08-12-2007, 02:32 PM Honestly I would look into Ipanel , Ibilling or whatever it is because they specialize in free hosting. HSphere and other panels would be very costly for the startup of a free web hosting company. Also - try reaching WHT's other forum - "Free Web Hosting Talk". I am sure you can get some very useful information there.
networkman 12-09-2007, 01:27 PM i would go with whmcs to and cpnael everyonw loves it but not me lol just to noobish but there are thousands of people that love it but not me cuase im windows geek
