View Full Version : swsoft response?
I'm curious if this is normal for swsoft...
I've tried to contact the sales team 3 times since Monday to get more information about SiteBuilder, but I haven't received a response. I tried the email contact, then requested the product demo, then filled out the form to have someone in sales contact me. It seems odd that the sales team will not respond to inquiries. It makes me wonder how their support is for those who have already paid for their product.
(Stephen) 08-02-2007, 06:43 PM SWSoft was heavily attending hostingCon, and I know we send quite a few mails during that time, they may be having a sales backlog.
boonchuan 08-02-2007, 07:34 PM I normally do not get from them directly, I got from their distributor. For me I am in Singapore, so I got from Web CC which is only next door in Malaysia, this ensures response is much better. You may want to try to see if they have any premium resellers around you.
It's too bad, because I'm most impressed by their demo when I've been comparing options. I really want to get started on my project.

Let me tell ya, first hand, STAY AWAY from sitebuilder, and if you are planning on having it installed on ANYTHING but their software (plesk), have someone ELSE do it. Do NOT have them do this!
First problem:
Client paid them to install this on a CPanel server, after me spending hours , trying to get it working on updated systems. They told him "we'll do this tonight" Well, they DID it that night, but they ALSO hosed the apache configuration, removing it enirely from the server. Talk about big time screwup.
Second problem:
Despite their initial screwup, client was determined to set it up, and paid me to investigate this and fix things so that they'd work. It took a few hours to figure it out, only to realize that they had compiled their module (php module) for an OLD version of php (5.0 at the time, when 5.2 had been released). Well, even after being warned of the security risks, and the fact that this (still) wasn't going to work 100%, because of proprietary this and proprietary that, he wanted it installed.
Needless to say, it took me a week to get things halfway installed and working, and even then , as promised, things didn't work 100%. Months later , the client contacted me for some other work and said that even after he'd had 3 or 4 individuals look at it, the same thing was going on, it STILL wasn't working right!
Stay as far away from sitebuilder as possible. Save yourself a ton of money and look into other solutions that do the same thing.
Well, they still haven't replied so it looks like they are making the choice for me. When I tried demos for all the major sitebuilders, I think their software was the least confusing for end-users which is my top priroity. I guess I'll be moving on...
Update: I ended up contacting them about 6 times over a 2 week period and I received absolutely no response.
Netcomm UK 08-19-2007, 02:23 PM Call them and they will give you prices over the phone. I called about Sitebuilder and it was around $5000-$6000 to start off IIRC and then a per user fee or something like that. I have it written down somewhere, will see if I can find it.

Unfortunately, from my experience, this is normal :( Customer services is also non-existent. You may get through to your sales rep but they have no customer service skills, they just try and sell you more stuff, ignoring any concerns you mention, and even argue and try to tell you how to run your business!!
24x7group 08-19-2007, 03:38 PM I also tried contacting them via info@ but I didn't get a response.
Then I tried to mail them on sales@ and I got an immdiate response, pretty weird in my opinion.
Kiamori 08-19-2007, 07:39 PM Never buy direct if you need support. Find a good reseller. They have a good product but the direct support is lacking.
AI_CharlieL 08-21-2007, 03:27 AM Wow, after reading Linuxtech's post it's like a an EXACT clone of what happened to me involving their sitebuilder. We had a client that was getting error when trying to use the forums, guestbook, and pictures modules. Since it's all proprietary, I sent an email to SWSoft. I went back and forth about 4 times until they actually understood what the issue was. Trust me, this was not my fault. I basically had to act like a kindergarten teacher to explain the issue before the tech understood. Anyway, we gave them admin RDP access to the sitebuilder server. Guess what happens? They fixed the modules for a day, then the client's site disappears from sitebuilder. I went back to SWSoft for more help, and they basically couldn't help me at all. After about an hour of figuring out how to restore a site through their stupid ID tag folders, I was able to get the clients site back into sitebuilder. It's just so silly that they actually made the problem worse.
By the way, isn't it so unecessary when someone who can barely communicate in English signs their emails with MCSE, A+, network+, etc etc? Like that's somehow going to make me think you're going to support me better. I've been an MCSE since 2000, and I can't remember ever signing something x, MCSE.
Oh and by the way, the client's modules still don't work right. I'm asking the client to try a CMS like Joomla or Dotnetnuke instead (Open Source > SWSoft). Sitebuilder has been a bad experience almost every time. You ever try to publish through sitebuilder? It's so user-unfriendly it generates a support request EVERY time 100%. Thank god I created a Knowledge Base article explaining the voodoo magic of the whole publishing process.
