I have domains that I've held for five or six years, which have gone unused. They're actually quite brand-able names, but just haven't been put to use. Can anyone suggest a good way to sell or auction domains off? Many thanks.

Namepros and Sedo are good options for domain auctions. You can also do it here on WHT. By the way which is the oldest domain you have?

How can you determine the value of one you have had unused for a long time?
DomainState (answering the OP). :)
I suggest listing them on dnforum.com and sedo.com. The more places you list them, the better. :)

Depending on the names, I would hang on to them as long as you possibly can. Domain names are appreciating (I read somewhere as much as 50%+ a year) and I have sold many domains in the past and have regretted it later (ie: webmasterresources.net).
Now days domains are just as valuable as real estate;)!
Thanks for the great feedback. Most of the domains go back to 2003 or so. We're talking a handful of domains here. However, I'm intrigued by THRMan (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/member.php?u=42693)'s comment regarding the appreciation of domains. I think I'll have a go with them on dnforum.com or sedo.com and see what their worth. Thank you all.

I can't offer a good way to sell or auction (other than what is listed), but I can offer some advice... don't sell, unless you REALLY need the money.

DigitalPoint is a good way to sell.
