View Full Version : Webhosting Reseller
avinnik 08-02-2007, 02:10 PM I'm really not sure how to call this, but I think it's a reseller.
I am seeking a company that can give me a webhosting account that has cpanel and WHM, and I can setup more clients and such.
I need as much space/bandwidth as possible, but I don't wanna burn my wallet.
Can someone please recommend me to some good hosts, that won't cost too much? Thank you.
resko35 08-02-2007, 02:16 PM Yes, it is called reseller.
Your best bet is to search this forum for positive reviews of web hosting sites, or visit: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=130 and you can probably get promotional codes so it won't burn your wallet ;)
AllenB 08-02-2007, 02:19 PM Hello and welcome to WHT!
A reseller account is as you've described and allows you to brand your own service and resell from your provider.
This is an excellent resource and there will be a wealth of providers and information for you to research. What is your budget and are there any other requirements?
Good luck and best wishes!
avinnik 08-02-2007, 02:23 PM Well I can pay anything up to like $40-$50/mo, and I think even that is kind of expensive lol!
This isn't going to be for a webhosting company that I want, it's for my web design company. We give our clients free webhosting with their sites, so I want to be able to make them separate accounts and all.
AllenB 08-02-2007, 02:34 PM Hello,
Your budget should be more than adequate. Are all of your clients under Apache/*nix? If you also have Win clients, you may want to look at providers who support both w/ your account.
Best wishes.
avinnik 08-02-2007, 02:35 PM =s I'm not sure what Apache is, but currently my clients are on Cpanel X on a different webhosting reseller, that belongs to my friend, who can't host it anymore.
AllenB 08-02-2007, 03:06 PM Hello,
Apache is the Web server that most *nix servers utilize. cPanel supports *nix currently w/ Windows planned in 08 I believe. Sorry, I wasn't too clear in my previous post and I should have just asked if all of your clients are using cPanel which it sounds like they are.
Best wishes.
avinnik 08-02-2007, 03:10 PM Yes all of my clients are using the latest Cpanel version.
And the host I have right now doesn't even have the latest PHP version
So do you have any that you would really recommend?
I was looking at jetnethost.com What do you think?
Jedito 08-02-2007, 04:46 PM If you are going to give free hosting to your design customer, then dont try to get the biggest package for the cheapest plan, your name is going to be on risk here.
Search for a reliable host offering reasonable plans and price, many people get tempted for those huge reseller packages at $10, and they end burned with this.
As I always suggest, make a real list of your needs in space and bandwidth and search then make a shortlist of the host offering what you need. After that research about them here, you will find reviews about most of those hosts probably.
avinnik 08-02-2007, 05:00 PM Well the thing is, I dont know how much space or bandwidth I need.
I need help deciding that as well =s
Jedito 08-02-2007, 05:09 PM At this moment, how many customers are you going to host? if you dont have any yet, then get an smaller reseller account where you can upgrade later.
There is no need of get 300 GB of Space if you are just starting.
avinnik 08-02-2007, 05:20 PM I am hosting 4 accounts, 2 which are taking up space. 1 is www.avinnikmedia.com and the other is www.c-a-u-s-t-i-c.com
I am going to be hosting more soon, but not TOO many.
Jedito 08-02-2007, 05:22 PM this 2 sites, how much space and bandwidth do they use?
avinnik 08-02-2007, 05:28 PM Well I put both of them on Unlimited.
AvinnikMedia is using 42MB currently, and Caustic is using 2MB.
I also am hosting www.xtclan.org which is currently using 18MB.
zildjian2000 08-02-2007, 05:42 PM Unless they are huge websites they aren't going to need much of either, and if you are giving them free hosting and they are using a huge amount, you may want to ask them to either pay or move.
You should be fine on almost any hosting plan. Most likely you'll be fine with about 1gb of space and 10gb of bandwidth, but you can probably get about 10gb of space and 100,000gb of bandwidth for about 20 or 30 a month and be fine.
Just don't get lured in by 300gb of space and 2,000gb of bandwidth for really, anything under $200 a month, you won't really need that space and bandwidth anyway.
avinnik 08-02-2007, 05:46 PM "Unless they are huge websites they aren't going to need much of either"
The amount I showed you is the amount they are currently using. And XT's isn't fully coded yet, neither is AvinnikMedia or Caustic.
Jedito 08-02-2007, 09:12 PM You should be fine with 1 GB of Space .. cant tell you about the bandwidth because you didn't gave us any number.
ldcdc 08-03-2007, 12:36 AM I need as much space/bandwidth as possible, but I don't wanna burn my wallet.1. Make sure you don't use "need" when what you mean is "want". 2. Forget the wants and guide yourself by the needs.
While you may find decent budget reseller hosting at $10/month or even less, from what I've noticed, the long term reliable providers start their reseller at packages at ~$20/month.
Can someone please recommend me to some good hosts, that won't cost too much? Thank you. It's all so relative. :)
I suggest you to browse threads in this subforum: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=3 and make a list of hosts that are recommended. Then use http://www.webhostingtalk.com/search.php to find more reviews on each of those hosts (the "search titles only" option can be a very good way to focus the search a bit more).
Contact the better hosts with pertinent questions about their services, but keep in mind that sales departments may work only 9-5, while support is 24/7, while sometimes it may seem like it is the other way around. :)
Good luck!
