View Full Version : Does my order page give the wrong impression?
AtlantaWebhost.com 07-23-2002, 11:43 PM Hello,
I have been on these forums for a few years now and have been in hosting for longer than that.
If you have a moment, please take a look at my order page:
http://www.atlantawebhost.com/order.php
Does the page make it look like Rietta Solutions only accepts payment through PayPal? We do indeed have a merchant account, but I like to give the customer options on method of payment (direct credit card, paypal, and check/money orders).
Suggestions are welcome.
Synthetic 07-23-2002, 11:51 PM Well, at a glance it may seem like that. (The somewhat large "Paypal Verified" logo draws the viewers immediate attention.)
But if the potential customer actually spent the time reading through the information, they'd no longer have such an impression. And the order form shows quite clearly that there are more payment options other than Paypal.
freakysid 07-23-2002, 11:53 PM no - you have the gif and you state what the payment options aree - so i would think it's pretty straight forward.
In answer to your question, no.
While you're not asking for a review, I would suggest that page needs a bit of a tidy up.
At the very least drop the rotating gif and place separate pics of MasterCard, Visa etc across the page.
Lats...
NovaW 07-24-2002, 12:47 AM I didn't get the impression that PayPal was the only way to order
IntraHost 07-24-2002, 01:12 AM Looks good to me... well seems good, looks could use an overhaul, but the credit card flippy thing attracted my attention before the paypal thing, and I was even looking for the paypal thing since it was mentioned, so I don't think you'll have any trouble with confusion of payment.
WiseOnline 07-24-2002, 02:49 AM You need facelift on that page, but should work for now. As long as the money comes through ;)
Magnet Eye 07-24-2002, 06:21 AM Personally I think you are tossing too much at the customer in a bad way.. it seems kind of confusing as what to do next. You need to make it extremely EASY for them to checkout/order from you. That is why successful online businesses like Amazon have spent so much time/money making the buy/check out process so easy.
I'd think about a new design asap.

AtlantaWebhost.com 07-24-2002, 09:09 AM Thank you for the input.
My websites tend to be very text-based and present a lot of information. I think this is mainly the byproduct of the way I think and my desire to have lots of information whenever I am looking for something. I am starting to wonder if my content is a bit too daunting for less-technically-savvy visitors. Perhaps this is one reason that Atlanta Web Host is very slow to acquire new customers, but we tend to keep the ones we have for a long period of time.
Lonny 07-24-2002, 09:32 AM Too much text in my opinion... I like the order pages short and simple - make 2 huge buttons with some text on them :)
Kevin2001 07-24-2002, 09:51 AM Hi,
Your order page is abit busy, but if people read (like they should anyways before ordering a service) they'll understand & you'll be ok. It's good that you provide the information to the potental customer before he/she hits the "sign up " button.
Good luck!

I think this is mainly the byproduct of the way I think and my desire to have lots of information whenever I am looking for something. This is contrary to the basic premise behind the web, and how people use it. In my experience most users scan a web site for relevant information, then utilize any available links to dig deeper into a specific area that interests them. I'd present the payment options in small, aesthetically pleasing bite-size chunks - and let them dive in for details if needed. Just keep in mind when re-designing, most web users *scan*, not read.
Good luck!
