View Full Version : Any best free shopping cart script ? no need to register before buying.
Hello
I want to open online shop. So I need a simple free shopping cart script.
I try very hard to find the script. But good script like OScommerce need the customer to log-in before they can buy anything.
I use "cash on delivery" payment method only. So I want it very easy and simple. But have a great look and feature like OS commerce.
Many customer of mine don't like to register before they can buy anything, they just want to shop and send the order to me.
Please help, any script fit my need?
Thank you very much.
Techark 07-23-2002, 11:58 PM You can cusotmize Oscommerce where the customer does not have to log in.
OR if you are not taking credit cards why not use a HTML cart?
Alareach 07-24-2002, 12:11 AM try this one:
http://ait2000.com
Nothing to install, no login
Synthetic 07-24-2002, 12:18 AM Mal's E-commerce is a great system, and very easy to get running..

I checked the OScommerce webboard, someone said it's impossible to do that.
Would you please tell me where's the hack?

I'm sure there's some way to get around that. Try posting a thread over at OSCommerce's forums...
The question has benn asked so many times.
No answer, only say - don't ask about it anymore, can't do it, serach forum before ask , will include in v3.0 etc.
BTW, what's HTML cart?
is it form input?
Can anyone suggest any example?
ClineCOM 07-24-2002, 02:56 AM I know you are looking for something simple. But, have you tried Interchange by RedHat?
I must say, I absolutely LOVE it. There is at times a lot to configure, but being all in PHP and having a Developer's Network, there is a lot that you can change and create to fit your needs, too.
Thank you. But I don't know how to install interchange.
It's very good and interesting. Should be good for me.
But too complicated, no support forum, no install guide.
compleatly lost at their website.
BTW, My server is unix system.
I can' t use telnet with my server.
I can instagll cgi or php script. But I was lost with interchange.
akashik 07-24-2002, 03:36 AM cheap answer and probably not what you want to hear but cPanel hosts have that installable with the click of a button. However, I personally recommend against using it. It's a very powerful cart application and does a huge number of things, but I've personally found the design very inflexible past what they offer as a default.

Techark 07-24-2002, 03:42 AM Sorry been busy. Yes you can modify osCommerce in the application_top file you can make changes so it does not require log in but if you are not good with PHP then it may be too much to do. Using a HTML cart sounds like your best bet with Mals. Simply make your pages list your product with pictures etc add a couple links that you can get off the mals ecom site and boom you have a shopping cart.
The only problem is you have no tracking and no easy way to update inventory etc without changing your page. But if all you have is a few items it is the best way to go.

With the 2.2 version editing that file isn't too hard. It's well signposted with what does what. If you're not used to editing PHP files just remember to download it, edit in notepad, then upload it again as ASCII (text). Unlike Perl you don't have to worry about file permissions at least.
If nothing else it would be worth giving it a go as you might find it suits your needs perfectly. 2.2 is a beta on ths ite and they say not to use it in production sites, but plenty of people are going ahead and using it as it's fully functional, and a lot better than the stable 2.1 version.

Thank you all for your kindness.
I've found a hack overhere
http://www.oscommerce.com/downloads.php/contributions,165/type,1
It's called - Purchasing without an account V1.0
I hope it works.
Sad news is I can't download v.2.2, broken link.
I don't know what's wrong.
Thank you again everyone.
Reptilian Feline 07-24-2002, 08:51 AM An idea! :)
I wanted my own cart, so I bought a book about it with great examples! :) Not completely free, but you learn something as you go along and you can make it fit your needs easily, and then make it more advanced as you go along.
but I want to open my shop as soon as possible. It may take my over a month to learn PHP. ;)
anyone tried http://www.shopextra.co.uk looks pretty pain free to me, relativley cheap too.
Reptilian Feline 07-25-2002, 03:34 AM Well... follow some advice on shoppingcarts to get you up asap, and ten get a book to make it better. :)
