Don't forget - they're not domains. They're sub-domains. Some clever businessperson registered uk.com many years ago and is now selling subdomains under uk.com

I understand the company behind uk.com is stable and reputable, so you probably haven't got anything to worry about (unlike the people who registered under uk.co some years ago, not realising they were registering their name in Colombia, not the UK...) - but still: What's the point?
