View Full Version : Who's got the fastest webserver?
mdrussell 07-23-2002, 08:43 AM Ok, we've had "Who's got the fastest computer", so now it's time for who's got the fastest webserver!
Come on, don't be shy...
Our mean machine is a dual p3 1Ghz, 1GB of RAM, 2 x 36GB SCSI drives in RAID 1.

mwatkins 07-23-2002, 09:28 AM I recently put up an Intel SCB2 based machine with dual 1.26GHz PIII Tualatin processors, 512K cache each, 2GB RAM, 3 * 36GB Seagate Cheetah 15K RPM SCSI drives.
It seems plenty fast.
On the desktop front my kids have faster computers than I do so I chose not to enter that particular competition. Next we need a "how many computers do you have at home competition" only to be followed by a "where do you live including street address" competition so that the underprivledged nurture not nature folks can rip us all off.
:-)
JKLIVIN 07-23-2002, 09:35 AM I have a badarse PII 166 Mhz with, hold your breath here, 256 Mb of RAM that I use occassionally. What do you think about that speed demon?
citrus 07-23-2002, 09:44 AM Yeah... I have a few of these laying around :stickout

cabalstudios 07-23-2002, 01:55 PM mwatkins, that server hasnt gone live to the public yet (no-one its there yet), were still developing some backend scripting.... even if it was at 400+ processes, its a solid system...
we have a couple in production, some are win2k servers ;)
