I would define cheap (as well quoted by david dickinson, "cheap as chips") prices similar to that of other US competitors.

That includes, rackshack, fdcservers, yarda, yarda

No you are never gonna find a server in the UK for £80/m with at least 400GB transfer :-/

i could only dream of a 100MBit pipe for £ 2000 / month....lol that would be very nice.... ;)

lol...yea...is it still £ 30 / GB??!!

you wont find anyone in the UK offering 300GB for £ 200 / month....

bandwidth costs more than that from a decent provider....never mind the server costs ;)

Pillhead
07-23-2002, 06:53 AM
Yep, they accept credit cards too. Im in the UK and I have 2 rackshack servers, there not bad, but dont expect them to help you in the slightest way or form if things go wrong, be prepared to loose everything. Hence my reasons for leaving them, but dont let that disgruntel you, for most people they are a very good deal!

Cheers,

nocster :D :D :D they are very very very very slow. I had a server with them for 2 months and only 5 domains on the server and it was runing slower than a server with over 300 domains.

www.fdcservers.net

THey offer good prices, pay 3 months upfront fee@$99 per month and you get yourslef unmetered bandwidth which seems like a more real unmetered bandwidth, in which I mean you can only achive so much and as much as you can push is as much as they will let you :P

saburovo.com are just reselling rackshack boxes with a little less setup and a little more / month....

if you require some support they would be the way to go as thats basically what you're paying the extra for!

RobyK,

Does the Datacenter have to be in UK? How about a reseller in UK and can accept GBP for hosting fees? Will that work for you. You are not going to find the bandwidth prices in UK as low as US.

My humble opinion.

Right now I'd much rather be paying $ rather than £, not worked out how much I'm saving compared to previous rates, but it's a couple of good nights out a month at least :)

Never had any problems purchasing from US using credit cards compared to UK. Could always wire funds or use International bank drafts if CC isn't an option.

You want a dedicated server with 300GB data-transfer a month in the UK

for £200/mo ....

No chance at the moment .....

Your best chance would be someone located in RedBus or Telehouse

Someone people in telehouse pay very low fees for 100Mbit Ethernet connections to XO/MFN :)

i know i think i might have a deal with a m8 at the mo

Well there isn't a UK equivalent to Cogent at the moment, and while UK wholesale bandwidth is a lot more affordable these days, matching Rackshack's 400GB/month would be a tough thing to do over here.

That said, there are plenty of companies offering sub-£200pm and indeed sub-£100pm servers. In fact do your homework and you can go even lower than that down to £50pm - though rarely with decent server spec, professional data-centre and multi-homed connections together.

Our Linux servers start at £95pm, includes 10GB/month data transfer, with additional bandwidth at £2/GB.
