Hello WHT, I've recently got a 'go' to start a huge project and its the first time I'm involved in such a big project. We've got the assignment to redesign the homepage, and all 34 subsites as well. furthermore they would like all kinds of custom made modules and this will take about 5 months to complete.
To keep track of it all, I'd like a script/application that could:
- save notes of everybody
- save snippets
- has built in SVN (not mandatory)
- project management with time schedule etc
- onboard chat/PM/forum functionality
- bugtracker/repository with source highlighting
Does this exist? And if so, could you please point me in the right direction? Thanks for any help,
J:agree:

1. congratulations on getting the new contract!!!
2. The most flexible and well written CMS I've ever used is Expression Engine.
You can write your own variables, there are add ons up the wazoo, and you can create multiple blogs out of the box.
With the MSM add on you can manage multiple actual domains through the same control panel.
It's a cheap piece of software really, and like i said it's by far the most flexible I've ever used.
here's an example site that was written using EE:
http://www.wakeinteractive.com/
The website is www.expressionengine.com

Thanks, now please read my topic again ;) I'm not looking for a VPS, I'm looking for a collaboration tool!
Nevertheless thank you for your reply.

1. where did i mention a virtual private server?
2. ALL of the things you listed can be done with EE.
EDIT: I think i see where your mistake is. MSM has nothing to do with server management.

Well it's my fault. I incorrectly categorize it as a CMS all the time.
EE is generally used for corporate infrastructures and big sites. You'd have to write some customization for a couple of the bullet points, but I figure that's going to be the same for anything that will be at the core of a really big project like this.

activecollab, free collaboration script, designed for these sorts of products. Should do everything, 100% brilliant software in my opinion.

ActiveCollab looks great indeed, thank you for that! Too bad my host has InnoDB switched off by default... Time for an email! :)
