Just noticed in the "edit profile" area on WHT:

Please contact the Administrator if your date of birth has changed.

Huh?!!

You just need to contact an administrator if you want to change your account's date of birth. This is probably setup to prevent people from lying in their profiles.

Besides how often does your date of birth change?!?! :D

As ub3r pointed out, it's to prevent people from lying about their age and then changing it to below 13 which would be in violation of COPPA if we allowed them to stay.

I seem to remember COPPA being abolished at some point though I may well be misaken. At any rate, if I were below 13 I would lie.

In the UK I believe it is possible to legally change your date of birth, though whether one can do it to bypass this kind of thing is probably a different story.

I seem to remember COPPA being abolished at some point though I may well be misaken. There is a difference between COPA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_Online_Protection_Act) which was struck down several times and COPPA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COPPA).
