View Full Version : Registerfly failed to update domain, and won't respond to support

I had Registerfly for around 6 years with no absolutely issues, in fact they had pretty fast response times.

I have been hosting a website and domain (I was paid a LOT, by the way) for a fairly large business. I put $20 into my Registerfly account ($11 still left), and set auto renew, and renewed the domain for two years. Although it only went to one year because it kept giving errors and support failed to respond, I didn't worry since it was on auto renew and I had $11 in the account.

Now as everyone here knows they had their recent changes, so I was moved over to GoDaddy. Everything was fine, until GoDaddy starts e-mailing me that my domain is about to expire. I contacted GoDaddy several times over and over but they just insisted it was Registerfly's fault, saying they failed to update the registery with the new information.

So here's the issue:
I have a very pissed off company on my hands. The domain is now released, after I made hundreds of attempts to get the domain properly updated. Their website does nothing but give me 401 Gateway errors, support isn't updated after over 30 support requests open (none of them answered).

When I login to my account, it says the domain is up for renewal in 2008.

What am I supposed to do? I'm about sick of RegisterFly, as I'm sure there's other people who are having this sort of issue.

Is there a phone number I can call? Any Registerfly support people on this forum?

I am *VERY* mad about this.

Now, to top this off-- my other 10 domains are all spread across 2 or 3 different registrars, so now I have to pay transfer them all over thanks to Registerfly's lack of communication!!!

The domains still exist, and it says I should be able to manage them from their website-- but I everytime I go to update DNS information it just fails and I got several domains coming up for renewal!

If anyone can help me, please!

Don't chase Registerfly, they are out of the picture. You said the domain is at GoDaddy and you have been in contact with GoDaddy support. Chasing the $11 in your Registerfly account is not worth losing your domain. Take the $11 loss and pay GoDaddy $9 for an extra year. You should be managing your domain thru your new Godaddy account not thru Registerfly's.

if you have the option of adding a year to the domain at godaddy, do that.

the domains I had left at registerfly were smoothly transferred to godaddy, and I can renew them there.

Yep. Write-off that $11 at Registerfly. Forget them. Login to your GoDaddy account and renew the domain there.

Thanks. So Registerfly actually stole $20. They never renewed the domain but said they did.

I was going to transfer over to namecheap.com.. any opinions on them?

namecheap is good. as you've probably read they have one of the best interfaces.

but i would also like to recommend moniker which is known for their security.
joker.com is also good.

Registerfly is history. Move everything out as soon as possible. Don't waste time with this crap company.

I highly recommend Namecheap.

Been with them for a couple of years now and so far no probs.

The interface is a breeze.

Godaddy is also good (at least for me) but, their interface is TAD slow and bloated which you obviously know ;)

NameCheap are good. Support can be slow sometimes.

Well support can be slow, at least they answer! Registerfly won't answer any of 20 tickets.

Are you saying that the domain expired? What month does it expire? Depending on the expiry date/month it may be safer to renew with GoDaddy than try for a transfer to another registrar.

It expired in April of 2007 but didn't take effect until a few weeks ago... don't ask me how they managed that.

It was supposed to expire in 2009 according to Registerfly. It's a dead domain name, should be at least. I shouldn't have to transfer it, I should be able to buy it as a *new* domain from Namecheap, correct?

I had Register Fly too and had the same problems.

if you don't pay to RENEW it, someone else could register it when it drops.

since you say you've been paid a lot, why prolong this outage? renew it at godaddy and start using it again.

They agreed to get a new domain, but wanted to keep the new domain because I discussed the matter with the company owners..
