I had originally posted this in the E commerce section of this forum, but was made aware by another user that this section would be much better suited for my questions. I apologize for the double post and am looking for a way to remove my previous thread.
Well onto mu questions. Lately here I have been throwing around the idea of starting a ventrilo hosting web service. Now I have no experience with this type of thing (As in hosting a web business). So I have a few questions and would appreciate any advice or help that anyone can offer here.
1: Do I need to purchase a licensed copy of Ventrilo?
2: Do I need a Licensed for every vent server that is rented from me?
3: What types of logistics are involved in running an internet based business where people use pay pal to purchase services. The logistics I am curious of are things such as U.S government laws, taxes, business Licenses ect.
My next question is not so much as a question, but rather me asking for advice. Dose anyone know of a resource on the internet or ells where, that would provide information about running an E business? More specifically a hosting service for things such as vent, and game servers.Your advice is much appreciated.

I would start out with a reseller account.
Nationvoice is the World leader in ventrilo sales, and offers affordable resellers.
My personal favorite: www.makeavoice.com - they are amazing for reselllers.
The only reason I suggest a reseller is because it is near impossible to acquire a Ventrilo License. It is a long, hassle filled road. Where one might be better off reselling!
Ventrilo is free software. If you were to obtain a license you must purchase a minimum of (dont quote me) 1000 slots. Which I am guessing is too much for someone just starting out. You must provide proof that you are running a legal business and much more.

Thank you very much webhostmike. After posting my first comment and doing some research I came to the conclusion to use a reseller. The only problem was finding the right one, but low and behold it looks like you pointed me in the right direction. However I am looking for a ventrilo reseller not a teamspeak, do you happen to know a ventrilo reseller?
Thanks

I highly recommend NationVoice, their the worlds largest provider for ventrilo servers. Top rated support staff, the owners name is Don. Visit their website, their prices may be a dollar or two more. But for the uptime and support, its worth it.
Ventrilo or any VOIP program hasn't really caught on to the general public. So try to get your license from ventrilo.com while you can. It took us over 6 months to get a response from ventrilo.
Good Luck, lmk if you have questions.

Nationvoice is the world leader right now in ventrilo sales, however they are slightly higher in costs.
Makeavoic.com Provides a ventrilo and teamspeak reseller all in one, at cheaper rates then Nationvoice. You can do it all ventrilo if you'd like. I'd still recommend Makeavoice.com
If you go with nationvoice, Talk with Don. He is the CEO and a good friend of mine. If you go with makeavoice talk with Mike or peter(founders). Sometimes M.A.V will cut you a deal as well.

Thanks for the helpful info guys, it’s been vary helpful in my decision making process. However I have some new questions that I hope you guys can help me with
1: If I go with a reseller will the slots I rent be hosted on their servers, or will I need to host them.
2: If I go with lets say a godady account for web hosting that has 5gbs of storage would I beadle to use this storage for the ventrilo servers?
3: I plan on only renting about 150 resold vent slots till I can figure this all out completely. What type of server hosting would you recommend to start with?
4: Is there a web script out there that will automatically set up the customers vent server, charge their paypal, and email their vent server info to them?
Again thanks for the info guys you have been a great help.

You do not need to host the servers!
If you buy a 200 slot reseller from Makeavoice, You can setup the ventrilo servers on any of the 15-17 locations provided. I repeat, you dont need to host them!
Client exec will automatically setup ventrilo servers and manages billing and all that as well.
Any more questions feel free to contact me on aim.
