It is one thing to cheat and that's bad enough....

However, to cheat and to be so bold as to post in a public forum your intent and your need for help.

Okay, I think it is safe to say that this type of thing is referred to as CHEATING.

Why would you want to do this? No one said that school was easy.

Have some faith in yourself! You can do it!!! :)

Actually I was having alot of problems with something before, should have been more thorough in my explanation

It finally worked so im much happier

My teacher really does not care about who I work with just as long as I can explain it.

Right. I agree. You don't need to know all the answers. You just need to know how to find them.

However, cheating is not the way to go about it. :)

How is finding the correct answer cheating?

Although I didn't see the first post before it was edited. He has since stated that his instructor doesn't view it as cheating to ask others for the answer.

I am not righting something to that sense.

Actually I worked in a group with this. There are many ways to do something.

I have also now talked to my instructor he thought it may be interesting to see all the different ways on this

I should have explained this much better then was before and or should have explained which issue i was having with.

There by no means was ment for anyone to think this was cheating

SoftWareRevue:

He was offering $5.00 per problem for the CORRECT answer to the question. That is cheating in my book.

If his instructor doesn't care how he arrives at the answer; then it doesn't matter how he arrives at the answer. And, as he has the answer, this thread doesn't require any attention. :)

SWR:

Does ethics not matter anymore in this world? At every educational institution I've been at, both public and private, there have been rules governing things like this. It doesn't matter what one's intentions were, but the outcome of one's actions.

I find it disturbing that someone is offering $5.00 per correct answer just to show the teacher "different ways" of working a problem? Now, he did edit his original post so anyone reading this thread might be thrown off by my last sentence.

Again, I ask....does ethics not matter anymore in this world? Cheating is frowned upon in general. In college, this could get you kicked out easily.

I stand by my opinion on this subject.

The outcomes of ones actions are simple. I completed the assignment by myself.

Now I am looking to gather more information.

You may also want to know that this is not being graded at all and also does not count, so there is no cheating. To me I have no problems paying for information. It is the same as paying for a operating system or going open source. For this class and particularry this assignment this really wont do anything but give me more information and perspectives on how someone would accomplish there tasks at hand, for small simple scripts.

Sorry as i said i posted this wrong.

I don't care if it wasn't being graded or not, truly, does offering money for answers seem ethical to you?

It is not the same as paying for an operating system or open source. You are not breaking school rules by asking others to do your work for yourself.

Well for example:
10 Questions. $5.00/Question.
10x5=$50.00
Tax (15%) =$50 - $7.5 = $52.5

There, you learn some math :D

Actually, I dont think this is a ethical debate, I am not cheating so what is up for questions in regards to ethics.

Is it wrong to pay a consulting agency to do work for you.
Is it wrong to pay a programmer to do work for you
Is it wrong to pay someone for the information they posses

Personally I dont think it is. I dont think this was a ethical issue, I think cheating on a test is one thing, which I would never do and would get anyone kicked out of class. Working with others on homework is not wrong or unethical, its called learning and I can name many people that think thats ok.

I'm dropping the subject. My point has been made. =)

And I quote:
Working with others on homework is not wrong or unethical, its called learning and I can name many people that think thats ok.

So learning is $5 an answer? I thought learning was something you did on your own, not have someone else do it for you.

Is it wrong to pay a consulting agency to do work for you.
Is it wrong to pay a programmer to do work for you
Is it wrong to pay someone for the information they posses

These people do services for you, because they have skills that you dont. Comparing their position with your position is stupid. Your in school, why ? Because one day, you want to be one of those people.

Your not fooling anyone but yourself. People in other countries are dying for an education, for a living. Here you are asking $5 an answer. Thats just sickening.
