Well first off I would just like to say hey to everyone. Now that the hellos are done on to my questions. Lately here I have been throwing around the idea of starting a ventrilo hosting web service. Now I have no experience with this type of thing (As in hosting a web business). So I have a few questions and would appreciate any advice or help that anyone can offer here.

1: Do I need to porches a licensed copy of Ventrilo?

2: Do I need a Licensed for every vent server that is rented from me?

3: What types of logistics are involved in running an internet based business where people use pay pal to purchase services. The logistics I am curious of are things such as U.S government laws, taxes, business Licenses ect.

My next question is not so much as a question, but rather me asking for advice. Dose anyone know of a resource on the internet or ells where, that would provide information about running an E business? More specifically a hosting service for things such as vent, and game servers.Your advice is much appreciated.

Welcome to Web Hosting Talk,

First of all i think you posted in the wrong forum, this may go better under the forum of Running a Web Hosting Business (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=6)

I see you have several questions, for the question 1 and 2 i suggest you contact directly Ventrilo as they will be able to better answer you all the lincese regulations.

Running a business is a big task, are you planning in colocating? if so are you able to manage your servers? or do you need someone to manage them for you?

Do you know already how and to who you are going to market? Do you have at least resources to cover business expenses and your own for a year?

I recommend that you read around in this forums you will find a lot of good information. And ofcourse start reading a lot about how to run a business, get some technical knowledge etc.

Good luck!

Oops sorry about being in the wrong section of the forum, and thanks for you advice. Do you know how I would go about getting my thread moved, or should I just delete this one and repost in the correct section. Also as to the question you had for me. I plan on renting a server from witch I will host my website and use to run the business. Unfortunately I do not know much about server end software in fact I know next to nothing about servers. However I do believe I posses enough knowledge in the way of web development to efficiently run the website ( HTML, CSS Photoshop, CS2). As far as money goes from the servers I have been looking at I should have no problems supporting my fees for a year. As far as my target audience goes I planed on appealing to the gaming community. I have considered running dedicated game servers for such games as Battlefield 2142, Unreal Tournament, and Call of Duty ect .
