MCHost-Marc 07-21-2002, 06:11 PM The average customer will use between 100-300MB/bandwidth per month. Of course, this depends what kind of websites you are targeting. GlideTech 07-21-2002, 06:34 PM I'd say Marc is right on the money. On average our customers use 200mb I would say. FDrive 07-21-2002, 07:54 PM On average, around 300MB. But then, there aren't many who actually use 300... there are many of them who use around 50 or less, and then a small few of them who use 10GB+ esdjco 07-21-2002, 08:23 PM I think it really depends on the client. Some transfer a lot and the max for the acount while others just have a site up which transfers a little. Chaps 07-21-2002, 09:24 PM Wow...when they only use their sites that much, I'm surprised they actually PAY for hosting. I run a site which I considered to be average...and I use about 6GB/month for it. I guess it's a little more busy than the average... Chaps porcupine 07-21-2002, 10:54 PM Wheres the option for "too much damnit, more profits for us!" :D fractiousws 07-22-2002, 03:31 AM I would say around 3/10 fractiousws 07-22-2002, 03:36 AM Originally posted by porcupine Wheres the option for "too much damnit, more profits for us!" :D Is anyone else confused by this? porcupine 07-22-2002, 03:43 AM Originally posted by fractiousws Is anyone else confused by this? Whats so confusing about that? The more bandwidth on average users consume, the smaller hosts profit margins are, simple as that :) Techark 07-22-2002, 04:05 AM Around 200 meg on avg. fractiousws 07-22-2002, 04:34 AM Originally posted by porcupine Whats so confusing about that? Dreamz 07-22-2002, 10:18 AM Hello Everyone, Well we have resellers taking 250 GB Bandwidth Per month within this they are hosting around 30 sites. So the average goes to 8.33 GB per site :) Regards, K.Nizam fractiousws 07-22-2002, 01:28 PM Ahh, I got it now, lol. I though he was trying to say that when people use more bandwidth more money for him. :D porcupine 07-22-2002, 01:33 PM Gah, i wish :D. People need to use a LOT over their limits for it to be profitable (for the hassle) and typically when that happens, i feel bad because they didn't know about it or something and give them a break :bawling:. saltlakejohn 07-22-2002, 02:41 PM I niche-market to small personal websites, starters, and homepages. They only NEED about 10 MB storage and far less than one Gig of transfer. I don't host warez or adult or mp3 and such. But everyone thinks his will be the next mega-whopper-whiz-bang website so I have to offer gobs just so they'll be able to compare me to the small-to-medium commercial sites. So I offer 50 Meg storage (25 copies of Great Expectations) but that's dirt cheap stuff. What I hate is having to offer two or more Gigs of xfer, most of which lays fallow "just in case" their site gets mentioned on Letterman. I absolutely do keep on hand all the commited xfer bandwidth plus a bit of buffer, but that's some expensive stuff -- bandwidth. I DO NOT believe in taking chances and relying on "floating" bandwidth -- robbing Peter to pay Paul. Still, I try to educate my subscribers however, and I let them go over-limit from time to time before we discuss upgrades. I really don't like smilies but everyone else seems to, so here is my gratuitous smilie array:  :cartman:  :D :( :) The rodeo's in town so I gotta skeedaddle, y'all. dsainternet 07-22-2002, 03:27 PM I host several small businesses as part of a design package, and I have some sites that do less than 10mb transfer a month, others that get popular and use a lot. It varies a lot! Chaps 07-22-2002, 06:01 PM James...to go off topic for a sec...your sig: "RackRaffle coming soon" what is that gonna be? ADEhost 07-22-2002, 11:58 PM if your question includes the multiple domains hosted in 1 account and the parked domains. right now my monthly average is about 800 megs. if we only look at active domains then it shoots up to about 1.3 to 1.5 gigs a months. if we look at the top 100 accounts then we are looking at 1100 gigs. there is not anything funny about my accounts, I am unlucky ( lucky) in that sense, that I can not oversell at all. I was looking at one account. He did 71 gigs last month, ask me to review his log files. some simple fixes and I dropped his usage by 10% ( no optimized images ) -mike |
