View Full Version : Unable to retrieve current domain contacts from UWhois?

Today, I just initiated transfers of 2 .com domains from GoDaddy to NameCheap. I did both at the same time. I got the EPP codes for both and entered them right away.

The first one transferred normally. Took a few hours longer than usual, but it transferred. The second one hasn't transferred. NameCheap has the status as "Unable to retrieve current domain contacts from UWhois". The domain does not have any whois protection enabled, and is unlocked, so I'm not sure why that is. The last thing I did was enter the EPP, I haven't gotten the authorization e-mail from eNom yet like I did with the first one.

Anyone know what's wrong and how I can fix it? Thanks.

Unfortunately this is something you likely won't be able to fix on your own.

For some reason, Namecheap isn't able to "see" the WHOIS data from the current registrar. That's something they'll have to possibly work out with Go Daddy in this case.

OTOH, you can contact Go Daddy and report the issue. Never hurts to try.

I've seen that error many times when transferring domains to eNom. (NameCheap is an eNom reseller). What it means is their automated system is unable to obtain the whois info. You need to ask support to do it manually (quoting the error of course, so they know the problem).

You have to disable your Private Registration / WhoisGuard from GoDaddy in order to perform the transfer successfully.

t325, please contact NameCheap support - only they can help you with this error. Do this QUICK as the system is cancelling unsuccessful transfers after some time, automatically.
