When I send a proposal and/or estimate, I don't want to follow up the day after because it's possible they haven't gotten to it, and have just been wondering when others follow up usually.

3-4 business days?

Personally, I'm usually not following up with the clients.
If you want to follow up with them, 3-4 days is good!

It depends on the product/service, the amount of information they have to consider, the timeframe in which they were looking to buy, and the possible number of other offers they may be considering.

A quote for hosting, 1 day. A comprehensive quote for development where the buyer is not in a hurry but is "exploring options", follow up once within 1 day to make sure they received it, then give them up to a week.

You don't want to wait so long that another competitor breaks in and closes the sale, but if you are too pushy you will lose them.

This is why salespeople are paid so highly. Its a profession that requires walking the delicate balance between being aggressive and being considerate.

I'd say 1-4 days. I evaluate it on a situational basis, but if you send a response at - for instance - 2 PM EST one day, I think contacting the person the next day before 2 would be quick. You want them to know that you want their service, but in most cases waiting 2-3 days gives them time to evaluate. You don't want to sound desperate.

It's a good idea to follow up the next day with some small additional information. This gives you the ostensible reason for the contact, and gives you the chance to add that little extra selling point.

I usually followup on regular basis, it makes it easier if they're on my messenger of course

In my opinion, if they don't respond, it's most likely our offer unattractive them. If we try to follow up and give them some more info, special offer, discount, etc, they may reconsider us!

I find this as well. If you don't hear from them then contact them and see how you can make it more attractive for them.
