is there a topic or a write up about common frauds that are involved with running a hosting company.
i know maybe credit card frauds and stuff like that but that would probably be the least of my concerns..

CC fraud is a problem, you can also have problems with spammers, phishers and the like signing up for your service. Do your research before you start and try to implement as much fraud prevention as possible.

Beware of fake orders, and also clients wanting a trial of, say a month - they use your facilities and dont pay, leaving mess behind on the system...
If you give a trial, limit it massively :P

I recommend using programs like Maxmind (I believe it's called) which use some key factors in your order form for determining whether or not the person is likly to be committing fraud.

Yes, Maxmind is a great tool to use if it integrates well with your billing software. The other is doing a manual phone call to your paying clients during normal business days at a very convenient time.
I have seen some providers accept fraud orders, they clearly know its fraud but they still accept it anyways hoping they don't get a chargeback on it.
Watch out for other country purchases, like Marraco and Nigeria
