I'm looking for a host where I can pay by sending my credit card number with fax. I don't fancy giving my number out on the net.
Can anyone help me?

As long as your card details are taken over SSL then it is not easy for someone to get hold of your card details. Nick puggy106 07-21-2002, 12:28 PM Yup, hes probably right ... most sites now have SSL 128bit intellec 07-21-2002, 03:35 PM Originally posted by CrazyPixie I'm looking for a host where I can pay by sending my credit card number with fax. Any "host biz" which has an established "Merchant Acct" most likely has a payment gateway such as AuthorizeNet or intelliPay, and these gateway's provide the merchant an "Virtural Terminal" feature, which allows the merchant/business to manually hand key transactions which are by phone, fax, or snail mail etc. Any host provider that wants your business, and whom has a legit payment system in place, would have the 'virtural' terminal feature as well as the 'live~real time" SSL payment option for their customers. GoodLuck eweber 07-22-2002, 07:15 AM I'm sure any webhost can do this that has a fax. Just ask one you like. CrazyPixie 07-22-2002, 10:21 AM No, most of them don't. I was really interested in getting host at http://www.myacen.com, and so I send them an email to ask if I may fax my number. They replied I couldn't. I asked the question to http://www.cyberpixels.com, they didn't even replied! allera 07-22-2002, 10:27 AM Originally posted by CrazyPixie No, most of them don't. We require that our customers complete and sign a paper form and either mail or fax it in. It adds a layer of fraud protection for ourselves and for our customers. SSL is a good thing, but that only protects the data while it's being transmitted. It doesn't encrypt it in a database, and it doesn't encrypt it if the credit card information is subsequently emailed to the provider. And if the provider is using a shared SSL cert, where a group of customers are using the same encryption key, there is no security at all. Basically, don't give your credit card to anyone you don't trust with it, no matter if it's over the Internet, via fax, over the phone, or in person. AtlantaWebhost.com 07-22-2002, 01:59 PM I have a fax machine, but I almost never get faxes other than broadcast advertisements. In fact, my fax number is 770-495-0914 if anyone really wants to send me something :-) Best regards, Frank Rietta porcupine 07-22-2002, 02:01 PM i'd just do it over the phone instead of fax, just dont get on a cell phone :D TradeViceroy 07-22-2002, 03:21 PM Heh....I never get anything on my fax either. :P SiteTutor 07-22-2002, 03:27 PM As long as you provide the 'billing address' for the card & the host company may want to fax back to you a signature form & they may request a fax'd copy of your DL for identification etc.. I'm sure it can be done. And most 'merchant acct. gateways' offer the recurring billing, so you'de only have to fax once, and from then on your card would be charged the mthly recurring charge of the host plan you elected. One of our host providers, I'm sure would do this for you contact Mr.Jason Russell @ www.StressfreeHosting.com And they are excellent with customer service, I've been impressed, as we also have paid hosting through the Pair Network which is great.. but nothing like the personal courtesy we've rec'd from Stressfree Goodluck |
