I have recently registered a .WS domain through NameCheap (I suppose they registered it through eNom). After some hassles with the registration proccess (they charged me twice by mistake, but they were _very_ responsive when I emailed them) the domain was registered, but now, whenever I use whois.website.ws (http://whois.website.ws) to check it, I get

Domain Name: *********.WS

Registrant: Registrar Account

Domain created on 06-JUN-02
Domain last updated on 06-JUN-02

(As you can see, it does not show my name nor nameservers info)

I have emailed NameCheap support, but they seem to be experiencing difficulties setting my domain correctly. Anybody has had any similar experiences? Any clue?

I think that the .ws registrant info is private not public.

4. Can I register a domain and keep my personal information private?

That depends on who you register your name with! If you register one of the old, traditional domains like ".COM", ".NET" or ".ORG", the answer is no. Once you register a domain with them, anyone in the world who wants to know your address or phone number need only type in your domain name to get all the details on you.

If you register a name with SamoaNIC.ws, however, your personal privacy is one of our highest concerns. Your personal contact information is given out only under the strictest of circumstances. What we offer you instead, is a safe and secure way to be contacted. If someone looks up your domain name on our Whois server, and wants to contact you for some reason, they can leave a private message for you through our server. Then, if you want to initiate direct contact, you can do so.

Only under extreme circumstances, such as a legal issue or a trademark dispute, if all other attempts to contact you have failed, will your address and telephone number be disclosed to the disputing party, after they have submitted proof of identification for our records.

Of course, we must disclose any information about any of our customers if ordered to do so by a court of law, or if we are required to do so by law.

If you registered with namecheap, try whois.enom.com and type your domain name there, you should get all info...

I think that the .ws registrant info is private not public. (SNIP)

At first I thought so, but then I tried a WHOIS on 'start.ws' and it showed something like a name and two nameservers... 'super.ws' and 'game.ws' also seem to show complete info.

I guess I will have to email them...

Remember the whois database is distributed - so your data is not served up by eNom, it's served up by the .ws registry.

The .ws registry simply does not offer up very much information in their whois listing. It's by design.

For an explanation on how this works, see the link below:

This makes me feel the domain is not mine... Well, at least it is normal, so I will stop fiddling with nameservers and whois queries

Thank you very much for your answers...
