I've recently upgraded my raq3 to centos 4.5 and now i'm a bit in trouble because i have an intranet and i want to made up some virtual local sites by my raq3 and use it as local dns server too.
I tried activating the dns server and auto dns and adding to clients the ip of my raq, but always get a dns error ( host cannot be resolved ) and i can access site only by ip, and not by hostnames.
any suggestion or tip to be able to get my "srv.home" working fine if i use in my broser itinstead of its ip?

You can manually add duplicate DNS entries with the LAN addresses for the vsites, putting them either on the Raq or another DNS server on your intranet. Also, there is a "preview" function in the BlueQuartz software which may bail you out.

i have to add that at this moment i have no vsites, and 'm only trying to get working the host of the raq.
at this very moment my setup is like:
cobalt
-ip: 192.168.1.254
- hostname: srv.home
i tried to activate the dns server, but doing a nslookup on both my clients and cobalt it gets a NXDOMAIN error
am i doing something wrong?
on clients i set 192.168.1.254 as dns, and i add 127.0.0.1 as dns to my cobalt, but nothing seems to happen....
any tips? or tutorial to have a look at?

As far as I know the only way to do that is with the Strongbolt software. So you might have better luck in the Stronbolt forums since Strongbolt has several setup problems.
I would expect you could find the answers you need there.

To me this sounds like a generic Raq GUI setup problem, not something specific to SB or CentOS. You should probably post the settings from the DNS tab on the main admin page. I assume you have the "enable DNS server" box checked? You should post the output of "host -v myname.mydomain" and "host -v www.google.com". I've never used nslookup, and when I tried it just now I got an NXDOMAIN error as well, on a fully working system.
If you are in fact using StrongBolt, the forum can be found here (http://www.osoffice.co.uk/forum/index.php).
FYI, CentOS+BQ can also be installed with the kit at NuOnce (http://www.nuonce.net), by pulling the drive(s) and imaging it from a separate system. The Raq will need an upgraded ROM in order to boot, but this can be done from the original Raq3 OS if it is still present.

I have had several people ask me to help them with the DNS, and FTP problems found in Strongbolt. This is why I suggest you post there.

Warning!
I have found that using the RaQ3 os to update the ROM fails and the RaQ becomes trash.

i tried a pair of things and now vsites work fine ( i had only to /etc/init.d/named restart after creating the site )
but i can't access to the cobalt bluequartz server by srv.home but only by ip or ip:444, i saw that inside dns configuration menu there is no mention about srv.home, now 'll try to add it and see if it works or not.
another question that is a bit far then the topic question... i think 'll compile asterisk on my cobalt to use it, now how to create a vhost like:
voip.home that ack only on 5060 port? probably i don't think i m able to do it by bluequartz, due to i haven't seen any way to add a port to an ip.
any idea?

I've done it on many systems without a hitch. Since Hockin's tools (one of the original Raq developers) allow you to read back the ROM to ensure it burned correctly, I find this to be the most reliable mechanism. Of course, you can certainly bollix it up by loading the wrong ROM image. Errors between keyboard and chair void your warranty :-)

Right but if you can't write correctly then you can't restore the default.
You can also verify via the serial system as well.
