Hi, as I have already said i have recently bought a raq3.

It works with 256mb ram, 10gb hd and no fans.

In these last few days i tried to compile from scratch different sources starting from make, gcc to bigger program like asterisk.

I saw that my cpu goes overheating ( i saw that it arrived to 80°C ) so i'm thinking first of all to add a fan, is it a 30x30, isn't it?

The other trouble is with ram, i have just installed RasOs550 by VMware, and after i have upgraded my raq with latest patch and i386 kernel, i saw that i have different httpd process open that keep lots of ram, and this is a little strange imho, because i'm working full by ssh, once a time i have tested the web panel...

by the way i decided to upgrade raq3 ram, i saw inside it has a 256mb pc133 stick of ram, now i'm looking to buy a new one, but which kinda have i to look at?

Does it use normal pc100/pc133 rams ( i mean normal like desktop rams ) or it use a particular type of ram?
Any suggestion?

You can use regular desktop PC100/133 DIMMs, but I'd recommend that you use ECC DIMMs to help with stability.

I replaced my fans with ones from radio shack. Just remove the dead fan and bring it with you. The sales person should be able to find a match.

Note: The radio shack fans are not the most high quality. For me, they died after about 4mo of 24/7 use. If this is going to be ran all the time then look around online for brands line sunon. Their are a few others out their as well. I don't remember which i used in the long term but If i come across the info I'll post it for you.

i had no luck with my local shops, they all have at least 40x40mm, so i decided to buy one and using a usb cable made an external fan system for my raq3.

i had also to say that i set my fan blowing air inside the case and my cpu temp decreased over 10°C in idle.

idle temp: 43° ( without fan )
idle temp: 30° ( with fan )
