I was curious to know what the majority of you consider to be the best website statistics program. It doesn't necessarily have to be expensive, just something that provides a lot of detailed information.

It can either be one that is installed on the server or ran locally on a PC using download log files.

u are only interested in website statistics "SCRIPTS" it seems, not "PROGRAMS". if programs, then mach5's faststats or leech software's openwebscope are superb. and both fo HTML reporting if you wish to put up your results on websites etc.

It doesn't matter what type of software it is. I've been using 123LogAnalyzer because the developer sent me a free copy last year to test out. It seem like a nice program but I only used it like once or twice a month. (I normally don't check my stats)

Now I've decided I would like to closely monitor my website's statistics and am looking into all the different options. I used openwebscope like two years ago and thought it was a pretty good, it's kinda like 123LogAnalyzer.

My web host deletes my log files at the end of the month. The are usually like 60 MBs combined. Is there some way that I can have my dedicated server log in and retrieve them on the last day of every month using some type of script? Or can any of the local programs like Mach 5 be configured so they will automatically FTP into the server and download the files? I normally forget to download them and loose an entire months logs, which really sucks.

AWStats (http://awstats.sourceforge.net/) > Webalizer. Take a look at the demo and see for yourself.

Webalizer works for me, for all I need of a stat program.

You may have different requirements, though.

I'm surprised AWStats was not on the poll. Does the job. Trend seems to be to offer multiple log stats apps.

I've installed both AWStats and AccessProbe and I'm going to use AWStats. It displays a lot of info and is easy to customize the page, which I like. Webalizer looks too plain and doesn't include enough data.

For some reason though, I can't get AWStats to not display his from my IP address or hostname. I entered both of them in the .conf file where it says to enter records you don't want to have displayed, but they still show up after updating the stats. It also keeps showing hits from one of my sub-domains. I didn't entered this sub-domain in the field that says to enter domains so it knows what domains to use.

Does anybody who is familiar with AWStats have any idea how to get these two features to work?

very expensive stuff but worth every cent

the ability to analyze the Return on Investment for pay per click advertising saved us lots

changed our focus and increased our bottom line

Webalizer, hands down.

Just make sure it's configured correctly, can be picky with those file formats.

Sincerely,

AWStats! I think it's 10x better than Webalizer.

AWStats beats Webalizer any day of the week.

I'm addicted to the "search keywords" feature of AWStats, which tells you what people have been typing in the get to your site.

Without a doubt this would be Click Tracks (http://clicktracks.com)

It's pricy, but worth every dime :)
