I recently purchased HostingAssociates.com and was considering using it as my parent company. What are your opinions on this domain name?

While it is a bit of a mouthful, it does sound quite good.

Nice choice.

I really like it, sounds very professional.

Creates the impression of a big company with lots of people behind it.

There's just too many syllables with that name. If you were selling it, I'd be surprised if someone pays more than $25 for it.

I don't believe it's up for sale, as he's just purchased it.

There is nothing wrong with a long name. I have some three word domains that do quite well in search engine placement.

The topic says "appraisal," which would normally imply that he wants to figure out the resale value of the name. But if he's planning on using it himself, that's the least important consideration.

For actual use of the name I'd go along with a lot of Incognito's points, though. Two words, no hyphen, so that's good for the "phone test" -- you can just tell someone the name without worrying too much about spelling and hyphen placement, etc. For search engine and "natural type-in" value, it's on the weak side, "hosting" is a good type-in term, but "associates" is not, and "hosting" is so common that there are a lot of competing sites.

17 characters isn't really all that bad for a two-word name.

Branding value isn't all that good, both words are very commonly used in company names. Still it is memorable and usefully descriptive.

I'd use it if I owned it.
