Hi there,

I am currently looking for a reseller plan, between US$15-25 a month with
-unlimited domains
-unlimited accounts
-Cpanel
-Fantastico
and all that jazz

with at least 5GB of space.

plus a billing software: either WMH.Autopilot, WHMCS or ClientExec.

BUT, im really looking for 'green' or 'carbon neutral' host. One preferably powered by Wind or Solar.

Does anyone know of any hosts that provide 'green' hosting or ones that offer plans similar to my specifications?

Also, if anyone has any recommendations for green reseller hosting, would love to hear some experiences.

This is the 1st I have sean "green". It might exist but I dought you find that here with the budget and specs. I would imagin the startup cost for such a host would be very high.

I've seen a few requests for this here and there.

I'd be interested in investigating how to 'become' green but I have no idea where I would start such an investigation.

Anyone have any ideas?

The only green hosting I know is Dreamhost that changed its politics about earth impact not so much time ago (I read it on Digg).
For more information visit Dreamhost's site in About section.

I'll remove my rant to avoid taking this off topic.

I think dreamhost is green.

Well it would cost you more, that's for sure. And you're planning to do business with it i suggest you forget about such things.

Well, it depends on where you are located. Here in Colorado we have a choice of selecting wind power from our power company (where I am located... not sure about the data center).

I would say it depends where your data center is physically located. I would suggest contacting the power company where your data center is located.

The only place where I ever noticed 'green' hosting is this: jpberlin.de/web/home/webteam/

Try to contact them in English, I`m sure they will know other green hosters with cpanel. In Germany Confixx is being used more often and indeed I prefer it.

I think it is a pretty good idea to go into marketing niches!

I could be completely wrong, but I thought rackspace had some sort of green program. Maybe they were buying some carbon credits? May warrant further research.

well, carbon credits doesnt make a company "green" - and if you are hosting the nazi's and al kaeida - not sure green matters...

green hosting doesnt really exist yet - until data centers stop using generators and regular power supplies and switch to solar/wind energy - then no hosting will be green...

imountain (doesnt offer reseller hosting) has their power subsidized by solar power - which is really nice - but, it is not yet a reliable primary power source - though, it would certainly reduce the amount of "traditional" power used - and all the power and respect to them for contributing....

What i think you might start to look into Green data centers .. and ask them about the hosting companies hosted on that particular data center .. in this way you can narrow down your search and it will save time too
