Sorry for another witless question.

I have two dogs, one grayhound and one plain.

The grayhound loves me very much and it is
very affectionate. The other one never wants
to be pet by anyone and appears to be sad most of the time.

What can I do to make it more friendly, happier and more responsive?

Was the dog from a reputable breader? what was its past like before you? Is it possible the dog could be sick? do you give more attention to one dog and less to the other? Have you tried giving affection in other ways, ie. playing games?

Our cat is from the pound, and it was given to the pound because the lady thats cat had it didn't like it because it was black.. go figure. Anyways, this cat is the most lovable cat, but it just doesn't like to be affectionate. It won't sit on your lap and it doesn't much like to be patted, but it follows you everywhere! Its very bright to, it plays fetch, and i speak not one word of a lie.

Anyways, what Im trying to say is, that some animals just don't like to be affectionate. Its in their blood. But some just have that sort of thing trained or drilled into them and you can train it out of them. Try other forms of affection, and slowly try to pet it etc. It may just be shy, or it may have had a bad experience. I would also consult a specialist dog trainer or see your vet.

Start kicking the affectionate dog in the guts, and give more affection to the other

Works every time!

Or send a letter to one of those TV Vet shows, and you can put posters up for your business and get free advertising while they fix your dog!

Affection and love. Dogs are like people some have bad attitudes sometimes and some are just quiet and unfriendly.

I'd probably have to do with the "sick" route.

My dog was starting to loose her spunk week after week, and we finally took her to the vet. They ended up taking her into surgery and pulling out a softball-sized "growth" along with a smaller sized one in her bladder. My dad thought it might have something to do with her bladder because she always seemed to have to "go". Once those growths were taken out, it was like we had a new dog. Thats been several weeks now and she's still extremely happy.

Now, I doubt the above is whats going on with your dog. If you don't think he/she is sick, you might try a vet. Usually they can help.

Anyway, good luck in your search.

Maybe the greyhound has his own website and the other dog doesnt have one thats why the dog is sad.
