View Full Version : I don't understand this from Cyberwings...do you?
X-MAN 07-18-2002, 11:32 PM I went to http://cwstatus.com and after reading the latest update, I don't really understand one thing.
I stil don't understand how I will be able to access my website or ftp to get my files. What will happen on Sat. ? Will I be able to access my account/ftp to get my files?
These are some of the things that I don't understand from reading the latest update. Every time I read them, I get more confused and feel like I am still in the dark. Does anyone have this problem or is it just me?
Subsim 07-18-2002, 11:37 PM It's not just you. They intentionally ignore issues they don't want to discuss, such as what the F*** really happened, why they said they owned the DC in Maine, when they will get the customers going again, and if/when/why the hell not the customers will ever see their old data. I HATE dealing with people like this, I have since moved to a more reliable and straight-forward hosting service.
sparrow8 07-19-2002, 12:44 AM They have added a Q&A from Shawn.....................
Still no time frame.....................but lots of promises

RRolfe 07-19-2002, 12:50 AM yeha the whole cyberwings thing going all just seems strange to me...
hnmedcom 07-19-2002, 01:21 AM Well, I got my $21 worth of entertainment from the irc.cyberwings.com. I would have been bit funnier if I didn't lose almost 2-week worth of data.
It looks like people will have to wait another 2 weeks to get their accounts back (with total loss of data) IF AT ALL. Only very "loyal" customer would want to host with them after all this. With their business practices, I can see this whole situation repeats again with their new "data center in VA".
I'm with a another host now. I'll wait and see if they are able to get back their old servers being held at LightShip

Gordo 07-19-2002, 01:36 AM I like the questionnaire bit.
What it has to do with the situation is of course unknown, but not unknowable. Whenever someone is on the hot seat, it's a useful tactic to create a diversion and begin focusing everyone's attention on the process of something which is irrelevant in the first place.
WHW are you the same one that was in the chat last night?
I am utter amazed that the rabid support this guy has. I made a couple of polite inquiries about where the hell my money was and they pounced. It is without a doubt a cult. I mean there was one guy who claimed to be $1000 in on hosting the CW and he was telling me to hush about my $85 and to stop being negative.
I guess if you are that far in you don't want to believe that it is a sham.
Still waiting for my refund.
X-MAN 07-19-2002, 12:38 PM What I just want to know now is will I ever be able to retrieve my old data?
If I waited and even after 2 weeks they come back up and all of a sudden they announce that the data cannot be retrieve than I would really be pissed off
I am just waiting now because I need to get my old data/database. If I could never get my old data/database, then I would have re-set up my phpBB2 board a long time ago with 2 weeks of lost posts.
Incognito 07-19-2002, 01:34 PM I am amazed at all the posts of people who still don't understand or don't see the picture....not trying to be unkind, but wake up and smell the foul foul odor......are you waiting for them to beat you over the head with a baseball bat?
I guess sometimes you try so hard to believe, you become so easy to deceive....but just step back, look at the whole picture....then take action and move on with your lives.
Incognito you post was so vague I am not really sure to whom you were addressing it. I believe most of us here have smelled the foul odor.
RackNine 07-19-2002, 02:02 PM smoke and mirrors.
Then again, I'm not to know. I have no affiliation with CW aside from hearing about it from clients we've picked up.
Sincerely,
-Matt
Andrew 07-19-2002, 03:06 PM hehe...man, I don't know if it was really him or not, but it seems as though they just kicked Rackshack CEO Robert Marsh, also known as HeadSurfer out of #cyberwings. News at 11...
Hmmm...curious that now their irc server doesn't seem to work at all - I wonder if one ties in to the other...:cartman:
