Hey Guys, I'm new to this forum.
I recently bought a Raq3 to run as a local testing server for web page development and to run my personal website / blog / photo album etc. It is a Raq3, with 256meg RAM and a 20gig Seagate HDD. The only difference is, the previous owner has installed the Raq550 software to use.
How can I restore the Raq back to its former glory, running the Raq3 original software, as a few problems have occured today?
Many thanks!

I'm not sure that would be a good idea. The software included on the RaQ3 platform is hopelessly out of date. If I were you I'd look for one of the opensource RaQ OS derivatives or perhaps even install Debian or the flavor of your choice... there are several HOWTOs out there describing how to get it done.

Well I'm pretty fond of the user interface and reliability of the 550 software, just at the moment its died on me and when I try a restore, I get a Kernel Panic, the raq reboots and were back at square one!
Is there an easy way to restore it? I've been working with servers on many platforms for years (only at home as I'm not fully trained)... Just I've caught the Raq bug and starting at the bottom!

I would say install the Current rom version and then you can istall the RaQ4 os which is just like the RaQ3 os but better and current...
Now sorted!

Yea sure.
When I was installing the 550 OS, I kept getting a Kernel Panic on the 'restore host' computer that I was using.
The message said something like failed to write to 03:01 which I'm guessing is some RAM drive or memory address.
As the comptuer has only 128mb RAM, I decided to try it on another machine with more memory. So I put my old school 3Com NIC into my brothers AMD3000+ 512meg DDR and the the OSRCD booted fine and restored my Raq as 550.
Just as a side note, I did this with a direct crossover cable.
Very pleased!
