Im currently with ResellerZoom's UK reseller package and i am looking to move from them, i wont go in to the why's in this thread as thats been convered before. I am idealy looking for a new UK reseller because my sites are UK based but if i have to go to the USA to get good service then so be it. So far these are the options:

VidaHost (http://vidahost.com) - Looks promissing with realistic pricing and space. They claim telephone support from 9am to 8pm but i tried calling them today at 3pm and was presented with an answer machine.

Clook (http://www.clook.co.uk) - Again with realistic pricing and an open support forum which is a bonus. Concerns are that they do not advertise a telephone number at all and a fax number with one of those 070 premium rate numbers. Ive also found a post on their forum saying they will not be accepting any new clients at the moment but that isnt advertised on their website

WebHosting.UK.com (http://www.webhosting.uk.com/) - Offers 24/7 telephone and live chat support but they concern me because their website looks like one of those readilly available free templates and their prices are extremely cheap. On the plus side i couldnt really find any negative reviews for them.

Kualo.co.uk (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/Kualo.co.uk) - Realistic pricing and an open forum. Looking through their TOS though they state that chat programs cannot be used on their servers. I currently use StarDevelop Live Chat for communicating with my customers so from that it looks like i will have to rule them out, sadly.

HostGator - USA based so not ideal but i currently have a reseller account with them for my USA customers and think they are great. Sadly i need my websites to show up on google.co.uk and dont really want to lose that. Saying that, so far it seems impossible to find a reliable UK reseller so i might now have much choice.

HostNine - Again USA based so the same comments about HostGator.

UnitedHosting.co.uk (http://www.UnitedHosting.co.uk) - Signed up with these guys a couple of days ago. Would have been perfect if they were not using Ensim, i hated it. Simon was a great guy and probably would have done anything to keep me happy but obviously he cant change control panels LOL.

So far this where my research has brought me and im having a hard time finding what i want. Before anyone tells me to look at forum2.co.uk ive already been there. Sadly it seems that people are there just to advertise their services rather than posting any recommendations.

So, what am i looking for from a host and whats my budget?

Disk Space: Approx 3 Gig which must be upgradable,

Bandwidth: 30 gig

Cpanel/WHM

Idealy UK based with UK servers. If UK based they must be registered with Companies House, VAT registered, an established company and not someone working from their bedroom. I have a very popular eCommerce site and i need to know its in good hands.

Linux with all the usual stuff

Must allow me to use my live chat

If anyone can share any thoughts on the above UK companies or recommend any based on the info ive provided it would be very much appreciate:D

Thank you in advance.

We had worked with some UK companies like Supanames before. Their uptimes was very good. But most of them prices generally more expensive and connection more slow and provide less bandwith/space than US companies.

Our current hosting provider is Hostdime and we glad from their services. Their prices are inexpensive. The uptime is not under 99.5%. Support is fast and firiendly. You can receive a response your messages within one hour. Also they provide some usefull free tools like RVSkin, Fantastico... etc.

Thank you for that. Have you been with Hostdime long?

Also i forgot to tell my budget which is £25GBP per month :)

Our sites are hosting on Hostdime servers about 11 months. The prices of their reseller hosting packages start $20/month and your budget is enough to find reliable reseller hosting. Good luck.

Thanks :)

Had a read through their forums and things do look promising. One major complaint regarding someones account being suspended for using live chat so ive posted in that thread to find out the truth ;)

Hostnine on my list if i cant find anything in the UK.

I would suggest VidaHost. I have not hosted with them personally, but I know the owners and have never had a problem getting in touch with them. They have always answered their email within a few minutes and appear to have a very good overall system in place.

Most of the reliable companies(maybe all) don't allow to use chat softwares on their shared servers because of these cause many CPU usage and/or http connection. You must read terms of service carrefully.

Thanks but if the guy is your mate then i would expect him to get in touch quickly. I really need real world experiences but i appreciate you taking the time out to post:agree:

Thats not really a problem for me, it can certainly be worked around. My main concern was the guy saying that his account was suspended without warning. I spoke to Alex on H9 live chat who said that the guy had previously had 4 warnings and if that is true then the guy cant really complain. We'll see

Just going back to your section about Kualo.co.uk

I don't think they actually mean live support software, I think they mean more IRC and Chat Bot programs. These aren't allowed on the majority of host's out.

Chat programs such as live support, chat rooms and the such should be fine (double check first) but in my eyes it's only IRC and the likes.

.

I have 4 years experience with Kualo and I must say their service and support are outstanding.

Their prices are higher than others and some upcoming companies do offer a better package. But for UK location I would suggest Kualo.

I would contact them prsonally and ask about you specific needs. They will work with you if they can. Good folks at Kualo. :agree:

Thanks for the recomendation :) Do you work for them? I only ask because it seems most of your posts are recommending them:popcorn:

They did answer my forum post about live chat and the answer was that all live chat programs are banned however they would be happy to let me install it and see how it goes so thats a bonus:banana:

Going to make a decision tomorrow as ive got a business meeting in Brussels on Saturday and i want everything changed over and working perfectly before i go. So please keep those recommendations coming :D

So far at the top of my list is H9 and Kualo.

No, I do not work for them.

I have used them for 4 years and they are good.

Their price is high for what they offer but they are very respnsive in support.

I am looking into a couple other reseller plans that are alot cheaper and their support is reported to be tops as well. However, these are USA companies.

Good luck in your search.

Thanks for that Ireland. Their prices are pretty much standard for UK providers and well within budget. Price isnt that important, what is important is great support and great uptime :)

Thanks :) I cant afford to make the rushed decision i made with ResellerZoom. So far H9 is the front runner because of the many great reviews for them and their forum is very friendly, unlike Hostgator's forum:mad:

Why do you want to move, what do you need from a host and what country do they need to be in?

Just wanted to add my 2 cents in. I used to be a H9 customer. I paid quarterly for their reseller package. My issues with them was the slow support or lack thereof. The live chat ALWAYS ended in "please send a support ticket in." I can understand that the online chat people can't always answer questions, but don't offer "Live Support" for sales and tech support and your online tech support people are always telling you that they can't help you and that you need to send in an "email support." The other issue was them not responding to a support request for two days.

Thanks for that :) Your complaint does appear to be one of very few with them, ive found it hard to find negative comments about them. Thanks for sharing :)

I'm a current customer of Virtuoso Net Solutions, however, will be leaving them soon. They treat you as if you are a child. Would not recommend at all. The two hosts I am looking at are HostGator and HostRocket. I used both of them in the past. When I had used them in the past, I didn't have any major issus. I left HR for a cheaper hosting package as work on my personal website was idle and saw no need to pay for a large hosting package. The reason I had left HG had to do with an issue with the version of PHP that was installed on their server at the time (couple of years ago).

Since then, though, it seems things have smoothed out. In regards to technical support issues, they were great. In fact, one time, while quite frustrated with the php issue, Brent even gave me a month of hosting for free for the trouble I had gone through. Another plus with HG is the free WHMAutoPilot software. Most hosting companies charge extra (usually a monthly fee) for the use of ModernBill.

So far, I am awaiting a response from them both. I sent a support ticket to HG about 15 minutes ago and sent a support ticket to HR at about 9:30AM (CDT/-600 GMT) and am still awaiting a response.

Good luck in your search.

I also have another reseller account with HG and im very pleased with it. I have ruled them out on this project mainly because of their forum which i find very rude.

Ive ruled out now Kualo.co.uk. I called them yesterday and left a message with a receptionist who assured me they would call me back today. Its now 10:10pm here in the UK so its safe to say that i wont be getting that call. If this is how they handle potential clients then so be it.

H9 is still at the top of my list right now because of all the positive reviews ive read about them, (obviously excusing yours) and their forum seems very friendly and welcoming.

Good luck with your search also :)

I don't have much xp with UK based hosts but I'm currently using H9 and they have been very good so far (a few months).

I don't think they have UK servers but if you can't find one you like you really should take a look at Innohosting, Knownhost, Cartika Hosting and Dathorn.

As for UK resellers I don't have first hand experience with any of these but I've heard some good things about them from some UK friends:

Pipe Ten
United Hosting
UK2
Fasthosts

Good luck with your search!

Ive gone ahead and signed up with hostnine. The decision was based on the many positive reviews for them, the openness and friendlyness of their forum and their quick responses to my questions.

All of the UK hosts i mentioned in my first post couldnt be bothered to get back to me regarding any questions i had which says a great deal to me.

Thank you to everyone who took the time out their busy schedules to offer their advice :)
