I had a few domains at Registerfly which come to find out they are expiered now, Godaddy has made no effrot in contacting me through whois to let me know nor the email so I had to find out myself.

Anyway, they want me to pay $80 - even though I can show proof I own this domain and due to the whole mess, Enom, RegisterFly, Godaddy was all in it made my domain expire.

Is their a way to some how grab my domain when it comes available but still get it while on the orignal register date? I registered the domain some time in 2004 and I'd hate to throw away that long time, so how can I grab the domain without be able to have a new regsiter date? Isnt that something like backorder?

I seriously doubt that anyone 'made your domain expire'. In fact, that sounds rather childish...

In my opinion it sounds like you relied on someone else to take care of your business, in this case, your domains. If you would have been on top of these domains yourself you most likely would never have had this problem.

Never rely on ANYONE to do something that you SHOULD be doing yourself.

With that said, $80 doesnt seem so bad to retain the original register date and whatnot. Just consider it a lesson in life - take care of what you need to take care of.

I can't imagine this was not covered by any agreement between ICANN and GoDaddy when ICANN awarded Registerfly's database to Godaddy. This seems harsh, imho. I would have thought that expired domains at Registerfly and transferred to GoDaddy would have been allowed to be renewed at normal rates, considering the reasons for the expiry was that Registfly wasn't renewing them, even if they were paid for by the customer. My only thoughts would be to complain about the unjustness to ICANN.

You could check on TDNAM regularly (say once a week) to see if GoDaddy has put your domain up for auction. For GoDaddy expired domains, they go to auction somewhere around 14-17 days after expiry. I have no idea how GoDaddy are going to treat all those expired domains received from Registerfly, but I would suspect a lot of them won't get renewed if they are charging Redemption Grace Period fees (somewhere around 12-17 days and beyond after expiry). they will probably end up on TDNAM at some point. You might consider a GoDaddy backorder for $18.95 on your domain. You normally won't get it outright, but your $18.95 will go as the first bid on the eventual TDNAM auction (if it occurs).

I checked this out on another forum, and this is what I got...

A domain I had in RF expired on May 18th
After Godaddy took all the domains over there,
they sent me an email saying they had recovered my expired
domain and I had until June 28, 2007 to renew it. At renewal fee!

So you definitely should get back to GoDaddy about that.

Yeah but the domain contact email is under the domain ie lets say my domain was webhostingtalk.com the contact email would be frimon86 @ webhostingtalk.com so their would be no way of them contacting me but I have an account at Godaddy with the same information and I havnt got anything back from them. But I contacted them and hopefully they can get things sorted.

Now the site I was talking about "TDNAM" Whats that link? Oh and could you pm me the forum link if you dont mind? I'd like to register on their.

Pardon me???

Where have you been these past few months???

Are you really not aware of the Registerfly fiasco?

Thousands of people lost their domains through absolutely no fault of their own, due to the shenanigans of Registerfly.

I agree with you. Dont pay Crucial Web Host no mind, some people just assume shat they dont even know the true roots too, and I guess that's the way it is, hence my reply to his reply.

Just an update my oldest domain is held by Enom while my other domains are held by GoDaddy. And I though Godaddy took ALL of RegisterFly domains, in that case why is my oldest domain held at Enom?

I guess I was raised a bit differently -

Pay no attention to me... I'm just the 800lb gorilla in the room. ;)
