View Full Version : The Truth About Canaca.Com Reseller Plan!
Usman770 06-15-2007, 02:44 AM Canaca.Com has very "great" reseller plan. 1500Gb Space Just in $25.95. But Do not Consider it 1500GB(Giga Byte) thats 1500Gb(Giga Bit) i.e about 187GB.
So thats the fraud they playing with peoples.
During Payment for a Plan, You never know how much you going to pay
They have very Poor Support.
Too Many downtimes
Do not belive in them, they are resellers of a resellers :)
Beware of Canaca.Com Reseller & Hosting Services
PremiumHost 06-15-2007, 03:20 AM 187GB is already a lot for a $25.95 reseller account.
You can not expect too much for an extreme-overselling reseller package.
ldcdc 06-15-2007, 05:10 AM During Payment for a Plan, You never know how much you going to payPlease explain. I'm not quite sure what you mean.
Also, have you used this company yourself?
Usman770 06-15-2007, 08:09 AM i personally has not used Canaca but one of my friends has used it
cabron 06-15-2007, 11:52 AM Well they are massively overselling their reseller account so i would stay away from a host like this. You won't get to use not even 10% of your allocation before you'll get suspended, trust me.
Also the support and uptime just show they aren't here to stay.
Jamie Edwards 06-15-2007, 12:08 PM If they stated "XXXGb" then I believe that is correct - if they capitalised the "b" (B) it would have indeed been false advertising had you received XXXGb but were sold XXXGB.
Cool Surfer 06-15-2007, 03:14 PM Hope you havent paid them for 2 yrs or something.

Even if its not false advertising it's still extremely unethical I think. There is a general assumption in the world of computers that gb, GB, Gb, gB is all the same thing. You are correct that in true technical nerd fashion they are correct, but it's just plain wrong and is being used as a bait-and-switch type scenario.

True, the deal with hosting space is that taken space has to be web content , you cant just trow 150GB of personal data backups there. they watch it. if you clutter HD with zipped stored files, not gona fly.
Truth is that overselling is like online junkfood, you think you get more for less but not really. if your website is 250GB and you start using 3 TB transfer a month , you wont pass a month with that host, you get warned and suspended.
People get hooked on Gigabyte race and hosting companies picked up on it and they feeding you Mega Fries fried in cow lard with spoon.

Wow, truly: wow. One of the best phrases I've ever read here @ WHT. Good stuff!
mississa 06-19-2007, 03:14 PM Hello everyone. This is Paul from Canaca. For clarification we offer 1500GB not 1500Gb
I will have that typo corrected.
We have been in business for almost 9 years now. I still remember when we first came out with our 5GB plan. We were called over sellers and just about every other name in the book. A few years later and it's the norm. It's true that the majority of the client base does not use all of their allocated space, but a small portion due use the space. We have have a few thousand clients using more than 50GB of space and a few hundred using more than 1TB. These clients due cost us money, but it's part of doing business. Your either going to pay in your cost of acquisition or on your hardware.
Best Regards,

i dont think they will be going anywhere, they are in business from around 7-8 years i guess.:)

cabron 06-22-2007, 12:32 PM Not looking good. Also their TOS has some things that i'm worried about, but still I would really like someone who is hosted there to fill up all the space and use all the bandwidth, cuz amazing as it might sound, they allow you to use as much as they say.
Can someone try this?
mississa 06-22-2007, 02:49 PM That is an old reseller contract. It's no longer used . Once we introduced our new Reseller plans a signed contract was no longer required.
Keep the questions coming and I will be more than a happy to answer them.
Interesting, but the company is in business for a long period. i know them for nearly 4 yrs as of from now.
mississa 06-22-2007, 05:01 PM We have been in business for over 8 years now. For the lack of better words we have we have stood the test of time. About 3 years ago now we also launched our sister company Acanac.ca. During this time we have grown to be come one of the larger DSL and Voip providers in Ontario and Quebec. We are far from perfect and we are not the right hosting company for everyone, but if you need allot of space and bandwidth we have always been ahead of the industry.
Usman770 06-23-2007, 01:26 AM If thats a Old Contract. Kindly Remove this link from your website because this page comes to Google Search when we try to find reviews about Canaca.Com Reseller Plan.
Thankyou.

I have a question for you.
One of your plans offers 3,000 GB of space.
You also offer a backup system included with the plan.
Can you explain to me how someone can backup 3,000 GB of space? Are your clients expected to have 3TB of disk space on their home computers? Are the expected to use up 3TB of data transfer downloading this to their home computer? Clearly that is impossible. Maybe you have backup servers. So are you really reserving 3,000 GB of space, plus another 3,000 GB of space for the backup server?
Maybe you can elaborate. I am also curious how long it takes your server to backup 3,000 GB of space.
I am glad you are happy to answer questions.
Edit:
Also, I would be curious to know how your hardware is set up. Is that 12 250GB hard drives? 6 500 GB hard drives? whats the startup time on those systems?
cabron 06-23-2007, 02:38 AM I will also like to know if i'll buy that plan and use it as a backup and for some file storage and usee 2999 GB won't i get suspended? Cuz in your TOS there is no mention about not being allowed to store files or whatever.
Usman770 06-23-2007, 07:52 AM I have got very positive responses from Canaca.Com. But, why i am still not satisfied by their shared and resellers plans. Completely Ridiculous. Spaces & Prices do not make any sense. If, anyone, is using this hosting company and using more than 1TB space. please inform us about their experience with CANACA.

Thank you for your questions. Any site that is over 1GB of data we will not backup. This has been the case for a few years now. It would be your own responsibility to make your own backups if your site is over 1GB. This is clearly stated in our terms of service.
In regarding to server equipment. We have a few configurations, but the most common is 9-12 750GB drives per server.
whats the startup time on those systems?
Are you referring to the amount of time the server requires to boot from a cold start?

As long as your not violating our Terms of service you site will not be suspended.
