Hi,

Are any domain registrars/resellers using Google Checkout for (card) payment processing instead of PayPal? If yes, hows it going?

They've even waived the fees until 2008, but I haven't seen a colossal uproar for their service, its G-O-O-G-L-E, so why aren't people using it?

I've used Google Checkout for non-urgent products. Google may not be quick enough for domain selling. They take a few steps to verify the card (can take a few minutes or even more) then send the vendor a confirming email. Vendor then accepts the payment in his control panel and Google then charges the credit card. You are less likely to get chargebacks/stolen cards but the verification process is longer.

I believe I have seen domain registration with Checkout somewhere but am not sure how "real time" it would be.

We use it as a payment option for all our services and it does quite well.

Thanks Richard, for letting us know.

Any other registrar/reseller accepts Google Checkout? If no, why not?

I was reading about both Paypal and Google Checkout and how they compared. Also the usage of both. I'd assume that people think "I already have a Paypal account, I'm not going to bother with Google Checkout." I think I came to that conclusion, because I came across a site that gave me both options and that's exactly what I thought.

I'm sure it will continue to gain momentum though.

The only difference with PayPal and GCheckout is that in GCheckout, recipients can only be companies and/or merchants, not end-users whereas PayPal focuses on both.

I'm looking to use GCheckout. Does anyone else have experience using them? Hows it?

I offer both but use GC mainly for buyers from non-Paypal countries. GC has no fees but it takes 5 full 'business' days before money gets into your bank account. With PayPal I can access funds right away via an ABM card. GC has less chance of fraud or chargeback.

5 days to for the payment to arrive in merchants bank account, umm.. thats okay.

Well, Any other major issue with them? Hows the experience for the end-user, compared to PayPal?

We offer both Paypal and Google Checkout for our customers. Suddenly, some of our big customers like to pay via GC.
GC deposits funds into our bank account within 3 days, plus no fees on processing orders which saved us a lot of money. At this point, GC works perfect for us. We really like and prefer the customers to make payment via GC.
However, I see Namecheap accepts GC, but not sure how it goes.

Google holds the money for 2 full business days before automatically initiating the bank transfer... then it can take a few days before it shows in your bank account.

My customers like & trust GC & say its an easy interface & process.

As a customer I find google checkout painless and quick, although a little bit slower than paypal.

I've never had any problems with it. The interface is nice and simple and it's not as complicated as Paypal is. Although I am kind of weary on doing EVERYTHING on Google. I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket.

I think GC will have this feature soon. :)

I've used it on buy.com to get an automatic rebate...

For some reason, my credit card company listed the transaction as fraud, and called me... it was odd. Other than that, it was a non-event. I don't use it, but then I don't use paypal either. I might use one of those in the future, but credit cards seem to be alright with me right now.

Only time paypal comes in the picture is if I'm on ebay... a must on that site.

I don't think a lot of people use GCO because google has very little legs, outside of us tech heads.... google is a little late to the game.

I think nobody uses it, because many vendors don't. Which Google must be thinking the same thing to not charge transaction fees this year. That's a pretty good gamble.
