I am looking for a US merchant account with no or low monthly minimum. My current provider is starting a monthly minimum and I would like to change companies. I have done a lot of Google searching but it is difficult to get a clear picture of the companies and plans. MerchantPlus seems okay on the surface. Their discount rate is little higher than I am currently paying but they don't appear to have monthly min. Are there other obvious options that members of the forum would recommend that I check out?

You'll find lots of companies without monthly minimums and great rates. Definitely shop around as I promise you they are out there. Good luck.

For most merchant account providers, If you simply ask them (or TELL Them) you do not want a monthly minimum or statement fee. The will find a way to drop it to get your business :)

To charge a monthly minimum? Usually most are about $15.00 which usually means that you need to only be doing $800 in business a month. If you are not doing that amount of business, you might consider using a third party processor.
