View Full Version : Huge lags on WHT
Mikie4648 06-11-2007, 04:09 AM I was on page 9 of 21 when everything came to a standstill for about 3 min. I checked my connection and there was nothing wrong with it. Then i continues on. Clickin on threads then click the back button, huge lag once again. Took another 2min or so till WHT finally responded. Finally when i got to page 18 and clicked on 19 it told me No search options left or something like that.
This has been happening for the past few days.
anon-e-mouse 06-11-2007, 04:12 AM I haven't noticed anything like that.
Thread moved :)
HE/LW-Sam 06-11-2007, 05:33 AM Sometimes searching takes forever! Otherwise WHT is fast for me :)
SoftWareRevue 06-11-2007, 09:32 AM No search options left or something like that.Search results last for two hours. If it takes longer than two hours, the results expire and you'll need to start again. :)
tanfwc 06-11-2007, 10:55 AM WHT is loading very slowly on my end as well. Sometimes it is so slow that I just close my browser and do my other things.
fatetrip 06-11-2007, 12:02 PM All seems to be fine here. It could just be a normal ISP lag which most ISP's have its very common. If that aint the case run a spyware scan or a virus scan. Their the only other things i can think of.
Henrik 06-12-2007, 08:57 PM Just earlier I couldn't load WHT and using two different connections. (in Sweden)
The Dude 06-12-2007, 11:52 PM I haven't noticed anything like that.Thankfully everything is fine here also :)
tanfwc 06-12-2007, 11:57 PM WHT is loading fast for me today...I am suffering from slowness for at least a week already :D
Henrik 06-13-2007, 07:05 AM Today the site is loading just fine :)
Mxhub 06-13-2007, 07:18 AM WHT load fine for me. When did you experience the problem?
Henrik 06-13-2007, 07:44 AM Some 12 hours ago, if I remember correctly. It wouldn't load from 2 connections over here in .se
SoftWareRevue 06-13-2007, 08:09 AM Some 12 hours ago ...Yeah. There was an issue that lasted roughly 30 minutes then.
Henrik 06-13-2007, 08:29 AM What was the cause? I couldn't do a traceroute, got stuck somewhere at Rackspace.
Dan321 06-13-2007, 09:44 AM Yeh, I had some lag the other day.
Most of the time the website is fine though.
HE/LW-Sam 06-15-2007, 08:43 PM Searching is slowwwwwwwwwww today :(
Henrik 06-15-2007, 09:03 PM My searches aren't slow at the moment at least :)
n3tw0rk5 06-16-2007, 11:57 AM Had issue with WHT late last night was very slow to load, all other sites were fine.
Mikie4648 06-16-2007, 01:22 PM Still issues all over the place. Slow or unreponsivie searches, moving from page to page etc.
I'm finding it quite snappy today and search working virtually instantaneously
AH-Tina 06-16-2007, 03:59 PM Searches aren't working at all. :(
--Tina
Henrik 06-16-2007, 06:00 PM It works but it is slow on my end (the searches that is).
Mxhub 06-17-2007, 06:53 AM Search works for me and yes, it is slower than what i expect.
CrazyTech 06-17-2007, 11:31 AM All is well for me and the site seems faster than usual but maybe that part is just me. ;)
taylorwilsdon 06-17-2007, 03:16 PM WHT is often very slow for me. It will just die out for short periods on both of my main connections.
mesobob 06-17-2007, 07:04 PM Search function is not working for me either.
Website Rob 06-17-2007, 07:36 PM I was having the same problems for about the last week. Finally got to the point where I used certain options in FF to disable the displaying of all Advertising.
All is well once again.
Orien 06-17-2007, 08:55 PM Did WHT just go down for almost an hour?
anon-e-mouse 06-17-2007, 08:57 PM That was a long lag :P
Jeff - Exceed 06-17-2007, 09:00 PM That was a long lag :P
I nearly died from that lag :(
SoftWareRevue 06-17-2007, 09:00 PM Some of us fathers need some quiet time.
cywkevin 06-17-2007, 10:24 PM Not until you finish your crash report.
Henrik 06-18-2007, 12:41 AM I nearly died from that lag :(
There, there  :P
justwandr 06-24-2007, 09:13 PM Anyone looked into this problem? The search hardly ever works and if it does it takes awful amount of time before anything shows.
Henrik 06-24-2007, 09:40 PM I just did a search and the results show up almost instantly in my browser.
SoftWareRevue 06-24-2007, 11:22 PM It has it's moments. Sometimes fast. Sometimes slow. I'm sure Mat will update us Monday.
Mxhub 06-26-2007, 07:38 AM WHT is lagging for me today.
Mikie4648 06-29-2007, 04:20 PM And the lagging continues, its keep going and going and going.
Its very obvious that WHT can not handle the constant demand of online users not to mention the searches and queries.
This problem has been going on for weeks and weeks. Type something into the search box and you wont get a response. Youll end up selecting another option to override your search. Try clicking on New Threads for today then start moving forward though the pages. Sooner or later you will get stuck on a page that will refuse to load, in my case at page 3 everything came to a screaching halt. I have to go back to the index and reselect Threads for today and then got stuck at page 4 and could not longer read the rest of the threads.
and its not my connection.
Its also very obvious why;
Currently Active Users (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/online.php?): 983 (221 members and 762 guests)
762 guest? Try banning bots. There are more bot on this site than real people. Granted some of those are really guests but ill bet that 90% are nothing but bots.
Ill give it the benefit of the doubt. Lets say 300 real users including some of the guest list. Thats 600 bots that need to go bye bye or this issue will never end.
SoftWareRevue 06-29-2007, 06:53 PM Can't be too obvious.
We keep posting about it.
:wht:
Ryan F 06-30-2007, 09:15 PM I'd just like to chime in that the search function (unless the results are cached I'd imagine) just hangs for the most part. It's been like this for a while. I've just tried searching for the word "windows" in the VPS forum and just gave up after the fourth time. The search function is like this for any other less-popular search word.
