I made a request to transfer my domain out of Namecheap for the first time to another registrar on the 7th June 2007 before it expired on 10th June 2007. It was only when I sent Namecheap an email to approve on my transfer request, were I told that it takes Namecheap up to 8 days to approve it.

Now that it is past 10th June 2007, I can no longer see my domain listed in Namecheap control panel. However, when I did a Whois, can still see that it is registered under my particulars. Have dropped Namecheap another email to find out the status of my request but no reply yet.

Just wondering, if anyone encountered same situation before and will my domain transfer request be successful? I cannot afford to lose my domain :(

Ok, what you SHOULD have done is to transfer the domain at least a month or so before it expires because if the host registrar (namecheap) does not accept/approve the transfer, then by default (10 days) the domain will be automatically transfered to your new registrar. But since the domain is under redemption, I dont think you can transfer until you renew with your current host registrar (I believe its one of ICANN's rules).

But now, what you SHOULD do is pay the redemption fees (which is A LOT) and renew your expired domain and then wait 60 days. After 60 days you can initiate another transfer with the new registrar.

NameCheap have a 30 day Renewal Grace Period where it can be renewed at the regular renewal fee pricing.
