-Edward- 02-20-2001, 10:40 AM Sorry todo this here but they ignore my emails and delete my posts from the forums. So they do know im trying.
2 months i've been trying to cancel my account and they answer the first one email and ask me a question then never reply. I asked why they did this on the message board at knowledgebase.hostrocket.com and the post was deleted.
Whats up Brendan? Can't say your waiting for my credit card details as you know i payed by check.
melia 02-20-2001, 12:12 PM If you paid by check, why not just stop sending payment, delete your files, and forget about the account. It only takes up space on their servers, it's not skin off your back.
Synergy 02-20-2001, 12:29 PM So Hostrocket is ran by one person?

-Edward- 02-20-2001, 12:55 PM I've got credit re-funding which i was told i could have. I'm not sending them no more money. But with each week that passes im slowly creeping towards paying for another months hosting which i dont want.
kunal 02-20-2001, 01:19 PM Technics, I havent been able to get in touch with him myself. His email is set on auto-response, which is bugging coz we keep getting emails whenver a question is answered. I wonder what happened to him.
-Edward- 02-20-2001, 01:24 PM i think the success has gone to there heads and they forgot the values they had set when they first started out. Which really is a shame.
Synergy 02-20-2001, 01:51 PM Maybe he is on vacation!!
-Edward- 02-20-2001, 01:57 PM Well someone is there since they are happily deleting my rants on the message board. on there site its three in 24 hours gone now. They can delete fast why cant they cancel fast?
kunal 02-20-2001, 02:18 PM I dun get it.. hmm...
Brendan at HostRocket 02-20-2001, 02:20 PM Hi,
There is nothing to get really - he is not telling the whole story for obvious reasons, and is running a crusade against my company in every public forum he can find.
-Brendan
-Edward- 02-20-2001, 02:22 PM What whole story? you sent an email saying would you like all accounts cancelled i clicked your link replyed yes id like all my accounts cancelled. This was on sunday what else is there too it? Suppose im a spammer or something? or im under investigation for fraud?
kunal 02-20-2001, 02:31 PM Brandon, kinda off topic but, could you remove the auto response from your email address please?
-Edward- 02-20-2001, 02:34 PM I don't want blood or for you to hand your company over i just want my account cancelled and the money refunded whats so hard about that? If the request had been fullfilled in december i wouldnt of brought it public but 2 months and it still inst done. What else do you want from me?
Brendan at HostRocket 02-20-2001, 02:52 PM Kunal,
I think I set my account to not get emails from the board anymore, will that work? I need my autoresponder. If its still a problem I'll setup another email account for the board to mail to.

This should work :) thanx
Brendan at HostRocket 02-20-2001, 02:54 PM I got an email when you wrote that - Ill make another account for it.
-Brendan
MilkMan 02-20-2001, 03:07 PM Hmm, I remember trying to close an account with Host Rocket. Put in a trouble ticket right before the end of the month and got a reply that said the account was marked for termination. Well a month and a billing cycle passed and the account was still up and accessable via the IP address.
I put in another ticket and account was closed within minutes.
Who knows what happened...just cut your losses and go on. Well, unless you continue to be billed...
melia 02-20-2001, 03:17 PM As he's said before, he paid by check, there really shouldn't be an issue. Especially on a public forum. If Brendan wants to close the account, let him, if he wants to leave it open, let him.
[Edited by melia on 02-20-2001 at 02:19 PM]
MilkMan 02-20-2001, 03:29 PM Ohh...then a check makes a difference. Twas eating and not paying attention. He should atleast get a refund out of it...there was a similar thread on HR's forums, alas it's gone now. Oh well...
-Edward- 02-20-2001, 03:35 PM i mailed them again and got a response this time :). Telling me to wait for alabanza to sort things out on there end. which kinda confussed me since i dealt with hostrocket when i signed up not alabanza.
Jason6792 02-20-2001, 03:36 PM Technics, why don't you post your correspondence with HostRocket, lets see what the real deal is.
-Edward- 02-20-2001, 03:46 PM these are the only ones i've got left in my email account. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can you just please cancel all accounts under flashtechnics.com and issue a refund for the remaining months of credit please? I\'m not asking for blood just an account cancellation.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I removed the urls to click to reply with. There have been others sent via this but it was done on there ticket system and i dont have the responses since they failed to respond.
If i find any others ill post them. These may not make sense since some of them are missing i would post them if i had them ive got nout to hide.

AlaskanWolf 02-20-2001, 05:31 PM Well Brenden, what about the emails i sent (more then a few) asking general questions? I never got a answer from you or your company!
A person who isnt even affliated with you guys was able to answer them for me
invitro 02-21-2001, 01:00 AM Hey Brendan, where is HostRocket reputation ?
You should think about that :)
baddealings.com 02-21-2001, 02:38 AM While I understand your frustration in trying to close your hostrocket account, it is my opinion that it could have been done in a more constructive way. I'm sure many of you were aware that HR during this last week was working feeverishly to upgrade their servers. So support tickets went unanswered for a little longer than normal, but tickets were still appropriately answered in a timely manner. But why not use other means of trying to contact hostrocket, other than posting in a public forum. I mean they are on their aol IM at least 12 hours a day, did you try doing that? I'm not taking one side over the other, but I hate to see a good hosts name tarnished by one person, who could have used alternative means to resolve this action. Now I know that I don't have all the facts in this particular case, but from what I know about HR, as my site is hosted with them, their support is awesome, and I'm sorry that your experience was not a good one.
Chicken 02-21-2001, 02:50 AM I think this has been an issue from last December according to Technics (at least that's what he has indicated).
Nashoba 02-21-2001, 03:19 AM Technics -
If you don't mind my asking, what made you want to leave Host Rocket? I seem to remember you were pretty happy with them at one time, at least I think that was you. I'm just curious.
-Edward- 02-21-2001, 05:34 AM i was happy with them. But i opened an account with kdawebservices a uk based firm who offer me the exact same for roughly the same price. I was going to move all my accounts to kda.
I've been trying to cancel since december. I wouldnt of brought it public if it had been 2 days...
I just had a major concern today involving my IP and hostrocket solved it for me via AOL messager in about 10 minutes. They've answered a lot of my questions this way and it sure doesn't seem like "poor service" to me. Quite the opposite in fact. I'm impressed with them and their honesty in letting me know when they are having problems. Some people don't listen I guess. Or they just hear what they want to hear...
Fiber 02-21-2001, 11:56 AM I was going to go to Ventures Online; but their prices seemed a little steep.
I looked at HostRocket; and I only heard good reviews. However they were not accepting orders at the time. Took three e-mails and a support ticket to get a response on when they would be accepting orders. Then I hear this? I thought HostRocket would be better..
Ventures Online; here I come!
-Edward- 02-21-2001, 01:37 PM I'm not saying they are a complete bad host ... But 2 months to cancel an account? I've been given a reason which would of been a good one for around a week but 2 months and they still dont have access to there billing system at alabanza that shows commitment...

I agree; they aren't a bad host but I can't say for sure cause I am not with them.
However, I think that if you do something, the host should honor it. The host I plan on proceeding to go with, Ventures Online both Paul and Daniel are members of this forum, and are on ICQ all the time; not to mention e-mail response time is fast too.
I'll try Ventures Online, to see how they are.
Brendan at HostRocket 02-21-2001, 03:38 PM Hi,
You still have not followed our simple steps to get your account cancelled. The only reason you are getting the special attention you are now is because you are running around like a child trying to ruin my companies reputation.
The only reason it has not been corrected at this point, is because of a mistake that is being cleared up by alabanza. This has been explained to you, but apparently not well enough because you continue to go around telling the world how you have been 'wronged'.
Its amazing and incredibly frustrating how we can have thousands of happy customers, yet you manage to go out and over the course of a few days taint our companies name that we have worked so hard to build.
-Brendan
Brendan at HostRocket 02-21-2001, 03:45 PM Just for general info, before this little tyraid, this is the ONLY trouble ticket that he sent in about cancelling the account, and this is the entire dialog to it as he did not reply a second time. We do not and will not cancel accounts via email as we keep it all logged and confirmed through the ticket system. Notice that the date on the ticket is mid January, not early December.

Hello Edward,
For confirmation on terminating your account we need the first 2 digits and last 4 digits of your credit card number. Also we will credit this month's fee back.

Given john did not know he was a check customer, but a reply to this ticket would have avoided this entire situation. Even a phone call or maybe another ticket within a month of this one would have done the trick.

True; I was reacting alot on this post. Sorry if I meant anything bad about it; I didn't intend to it.
If only you'll accept orders (I have not checked as of 2:16PM CST).

Brendan is a member of this forum, HR support is often on AIM, and support from HR has always answered me in under an hour. It's plain and simple as Brendan said, Technics didn't follow directions, caused his own problems, and is now whining about it in a public forum instead of handling it with the company. Please don't let this change your opinion of HostRocket, they're a wonderful company.
SteveL 02-21-2001, 06:18 PM I too host with HostRocket and I've found them to offer excellent support and the response time on my site is very, very good. Like many others here, I've learned the hard way what how good they are. Monitor these boards occasionally for a few weeks and you'll see.
It would appear their reputation spawned a period of significant and unexpected growth and along with a change of NOC's they experienced some minor problems which they sorted out very quickly. If you're looking for a host provider that never experiences ANY problems you're dreaming. The good ones resolve them quickly and professionally and that's been my experience with HR to date but I'm a relatively new customer. I would also urge others to not condemn any of these companies by isolated experiences not matter how long the thread drags on. You can't please everyone all the time no matter how hard you try.
Most of all keep an eye on these boards as they can be a life saver.
I can be somewhat verbose; sorry.

-Edward- 02-22-2001, 09:59 AM i did send a reply email to the one from john stating i didnt have a credit card. so couldnt give him the last four digits. i gave you plenty of time to answer the reply.
I'm not dissing your company the hosting with you was good and support was good. What im not happy about is the length of time it takes to cancel an account.
