View Full Version : My new loved registrar ... Mydomain.com
Aorozco 06-09-2007, 10:13 PM Currently i have a bunch of domains for customers in reseller club, and some own domais, i am in 6.75 SLAb and in few purchases i stay in 6.49 Slab.
Some months ago i transferred 90~ domains to Mydomain.com (really namesdirect.com but better prices ) and i begin today to do some maths, because the bulk interfase of mydomain.com is good, an around 200 of my own domains, are redirections.
I need hold vast majority of my domains in resellerclub, because looks professional and is easy manage my customer accounts, anyway i have around 300~ 400 domains can be moved.
Check this, only for com net and org, i am not sure apply for infos.
Make your own numbers if you have less than 102 movable domains.
102 Reseller club 6.75 via paypal = 711.52 USD
102 Reseller club 6.49 via paypal = 684.12 USD
102 Mydomain plus icann fee = 695.64
i know the 15.88 Not look as a good gain, and if i multiply to 400 Domains, only save around 60 USD.
But.. Damn !! the full price of mydomain include the dns redirection, some nice email redirections, and really the price is competitive. I begin to made some adjustments to have around 220 Always in mydomains (the redirectors), and all the real sites , or critical, in resellerclub.
If i need redirectors, anywyat mydomain is competitive and the bulk interfase is marvelous.
jazbek 06-13-2007, 03:29 PM I used to have all my domains hosted there, and there was so much downtime with their nameservers that I had to change registrars. On top of it, whenever there was downtime, when you would visit one of my URLs, you would get this junk advertisement page full of spammy looking ads that were generating revenue for MyDomain.com. This was about 3 years ago, so things may have changed. They may have good prices, but IMO, they suck(ed).
Aorozco 06-13-2007, 04:26 PM Jazbek, they changed many things. I use them before for argentina sites ( long history ) and i only have one day down dns some months ago. You get the spammy in the past, not nowm, and the free redirect is better, function with domains not registered here. I plan to use in a spcefici situation, but for price look very good for non developed sites.
I made a worksheet yesterday, i put on in some days with the results.
Licantropo. I'd make sure that all wildcard subdomains are redirected to www. non-www also.
Each to their own. I kinda liked MyDomain for a while. But their bulk domain management interface is nowhere near as good as eNom or GoDaddy (well nobody is).
Aorozco 06-13-2007, 10:16 PM Not Really Stu.
the domains Of Argentina point to ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com, then i made glue posting ns and a to the ip i want.
In the otherside, thge domains i recover for registerfly, all are now pointing to ns5.mybrand.com and ns6.mybdrand.com, the bul facilitis are impressive.
never use subdomains with them, but know they hace redirects qwithout problems, form me the nmail redirects work fines.
DomainNewbie 06-13-2007, 10:47 PM isn't that mydomain.com is a replica (or vice versa) of domain.com? they have same prices policies?? (for instance, ICANN fees are the same and their dicount features are the same as well)
Aorozco 06-14-2007, 01:00 PM No, mydomain.com is really namesdirect.com , but with much better prices. Domains registered in mydomain.com appear as registered by namesdirect.com
RajanUrs 06-14-2007, 03:05 PM And when I login to both with Dotster username the Dotster cp appears. :gthumb:
Aorozco 06-14-2007, 03:19 PM I discover i can push to my resller club account from other registrants using logicoboxes, check only the customer number.
My comment about wildcarding your sub-domains is because in the past Dotster were stealing your traffic. In fact their ToS specifically states they will do this. I imagine that MyDomain's ToS will be the same, since they're a Dotster Reseller.
I discover i can push to my resller club account from other registrants using logicoboxes, check only the customer number.
So you can push between StarGate and ResellerClub, and vice versa? Interesting.
Aorozco 06-14-2007, 10:19 PM Look in that manner. Maybe the monday o made some transfers betwrrn logicboxes. Sounds as a good form of give other accces to non more my customers domains.
Between StarGate <> ResellerClub? Transfer between other Directi subsidiaries (ResellerClub <> Answerable) have always been possible.

Can I really transfer between resellers? Like if I'm with domaincentral, can I transfer to Answerable? Is it free?
Aorozco 06-15-2007, 01:56 AM Well, maybe we can test, asking permission first to Stargate staff. What is his nickname here ? I check and look as spossible.

Usually if the both accounts are within the same registrar it [pushing to another account] is allowed.
Edit: And when you move the domain from one registrar to another then it involves a transfer order and a fee [usually taken as a years renewal]
openXS 06-15-2007, 04:37 AM ...for free?
RajanUrs 06-15-2007, 04:55 AM ...for free?
Yes pushing is usually free but please understand clearly the difference between pushing and transfering. Thats how registered domains are pushed to a buyer's account if purchased.
For example if you buy a domain name from me registered in ResellerClub then I can push the domain to your ResellerClub account for free. That should be possible for all resellers under ResellerClub.
Yes. But Licantropo was mentioning you can push domains between registrars who are on the same control panel platform, LogicBoxes. He still hasn't confirmed that is possible.
Can I really transfer between resellers? Like if I'm with domaincentral, can I transfer to Answerable? Is it free?
Yes I've done it many times reseller > Answerable.
Aorozco 06-15-2007, 05:58 PM I try one second ago with a disposanle domain i have and ... not works.
RC - > Stargate.
[r5] Error Message: The Customer account you are trying to move the domain name to is under Registrar Stargate Holdings Corp. You will need to initiate a Domain Transfer Request from Stargate Holdings Corp to accomplish this.
