Well seems Pontiac is going to re-release the GTO. Rumor has it, the new GTO is actually a rebadged Holden Monaro (Australian Legend)

Naturally anyone outside Australia wouldn't know a Monaro from a hole in the ground so, he's a nice site of interest for the pedigree of the Monaro (aka Pontiac GTO)

Yes.. oddly a New Zealand site :)

With my move in the near future stateside, I'm planning on getting one of these GTO's and rebadging it back to being a Monaro again... hoisting the AU flag out the front of my house and to be heard wailing on a Sunday morning in suburban USA

"Carn, ya farrkin bstards, get ya sht togther, and getta carton. We got all sortsa sht on the barbie. Bring ya shielas, and tha lil ones. Bonza!! Faaark!!"

hehe...

*edit* I know for a fact Safeway has VB and Fosters, in little kegs no less!

Great...

Well, hopefully the cars will be fuel efficient. Cause, atleast here in Washington, gas prices suck. I just paid $1.55 a gallon for plain old regular.

They do look like a nice car. I'd even consider buying one.

Rumor has it that this car will be subject to the gas guzzler tax. Vroom!

heh, well 5.7 litre, V8 engine.. unless Pontiac uses one of their own.

Gas here is around 80c a litre (aka $3 a gallon)

Most likely it'll be an LS1, unless they are serious about making this thing really fly in which case it'll be an LS6. The new CTSI coming out next year is supposed to have an LS6 and 400 HP. That's what I'm waitin for! Lutz is a good guy :)

I guess I won't consider moving to Australia... ;)

Actually, the Weather does look nice. Sure, beats Washington. Although, it hasn't rained in a while around here. Must have been due to us having snow in May... :)

My girl friend would love to go to Australia, her family wouldn't be able to visit often. :D

actually as you know, spend a time in WA. I prefer it there with the snow over Xmas. Also from my better half being there, it's been bloody hot lately. :)

The high-performance HSV group produces two hot Monaro models, the GTO 255 and the GTS 300, each using an enhanced Gen III 5.7-liter aluminum V-8. The top GTS model even boasts an engine warmed over by tuner Callaway for a prodigious 400-horsepower output. The photo illustration presented here is our best guess at how the styling would be adapted to Pontiac, building off the more subtle Monaro. We're told by insiders that the current view is that the face would carry essential Pontiac cues, but the rear would remain untouched.

As far as fuel cost in OZ, use propane or AutoGas as it is called here only 35 cents a liter.
:D

I think it's a Washington thing. It rains 9 months of the year so you're stuck inside, and everyone's wired on coffee. Tension is bound to happen :)
