I have a lot of space and bandwith not allocated for anything on the server I'm on, so I figured I would offer a special deal to the members of webhosting talk.

Want to be the next Geocities? Offering free webspace in return for top and bottom ad banner space and profitting from all the traffic they bring in, with only the administrative duties of overseeing accounts instead of trying to build and promote your own site? Want to add a community aspect onto your site without having to spend a fortune in setup fees and then having to install software on your server? Cobranding your free hosting may be in your best interests.

Like I said, I'm trying to sell off some resources to help pay for the server, so I'm negotiable on the prices.

The site is www.muttle.com and feel free to sign up for the free version, take a look around. If you want to test the end user control panel, you could sign up at www.hosted123.com which is a cobranded freehost set up for demo purposes. If you sign up for the free version, 50% of the top banner space is taken to pay for the service.

The prices for the paid version are as follows (these are negotiable):

<edit>I'm lowering the pricing</edit>
10 Gigabytes of transfer: $7
20 Gigabytes of transfer: $10
50 Gigabytes of transfer: $20

Any higher usage would just be the equivalent of adding another package on (so if for example you were on the 40 gig plan, and you used 44 gigs, you'd pay $60, $45+$15 for the 2 plans). As for space, uploads are capped at 500kb, and as long as you enforce the TOS for muttle (no file distribution, mp3, warez, etc.) it won't be too much of a problem. But as a general rule, for every 10 gigabytes of transfer you could use a gigabyte of space without problems.

If anyone is interested, PM me or email me at webmaster@muttle.com and we'll work something out.

<edit>
Features of accounts:
-Browser upload
-50 MB space (may be increased later)
-Subdomains for accounts
-Subdirectories off account
-Online editor
-Templates

Note: Uploads are capped at 500kb both to save you on transfer and space. Hotlinking is disabled to save on bandwith.
</edit>

Updated prices (I don't think this forum bumps posts with new replies, so I think it's ok to post this).

One question:

Where is the server located? (I wasn't able to tell from a trace...)

thanks.

The server is in the FDC servers datacenter.

With greater demand, I plan on moving muttle onto its own server in a multihomed bandwith datacenter to ensure uptime (although the mulithomed bandwith would cost me more, so of course I would have to pass a little bit of that on if you so chose).

don't use "become the next Geocities", at their peak they were losing $35 million a year

Alright, you've probably got me there :).

How about this:

"Become the next Geocities, but profitable!"? ;)
