I don't understand it.

Are they saying it's luike $1 a month just as long as no more than 1 listener connects at one time?.

As long as it's only at 24kbs, sure seems like it.

"Maximum Concurrent Listeners

Maximum concurrent listeners is the number of listeners that can access your broadcast at one time and is preset when you select one of our services. You will know how much you are spending on the broadcast ahead of time and as a Streamguys customer you can add aditional listener capacity at any time."
That is from their website.

It basically means no more then X listeners can connect at a time,
so for $3 a month you can have the max of 3 listeners at 24kbps (garbage audio quality though)

How many listeners are you expecting?

See if likesy i was streaming live and i went for the 24kbps right and i went through 10GB of transfer in the month but no more than 1 listener at a time was listening then how much would that cost?.

That would be $1/month, but it's not possible to use 10gb with only 24kbps.

I'm shy anyway i won't be doing streaming until a month or something because i have to wait on something to get delivered from America..

Cost me £40 to get a radio like weight package to here..

you can be assured that you won't be doing any streaming, of a quality level, without paying a premium price.

Streaming audio/video is something that tends to send shivers through hosting providers. The overhead of a popular stream can range into terabytes of data. I'd suggest looking at a dedicated stream provider.

56k - 56/8 = 7k/sec * 60 seconds = 420k min x 60 minutes in an hour = 25200k an hour (25.2meg) x 24 hours a day = 604800K a day (604.8 meg) x 30 days = 18144000k = 18gb and 144mb a month

64k - 64/8 = 8k/sec * 60 seconds = 480k min x 60 minutes in an hour = 28800k an hour (28.8meg) x 24 hours = 691200K a day (691.2 meg) x 30 days = 2073600k = 20gb and 736mb per month

96k - 96/8 = 12k/sec * 60 seconds = 720k min x 60 minutes in an hour = 43200k an hour (43.2meg) x 24 hours = 1036800k a day (1036.8 meg) x 30 days = 31104000k a month = 31gb and 104mb per month

Anyways..

You are paying X dollars per user at a certain bitrate. Wether they're connected or not, you're paying for how many users you want the stream to accept.

Yep i'm quite good at the on demand but when it comes to live it's another thing..

How are you going to make a profit from this (unless you're sponsoring it) :confused:
