Hello,
Does anyone use a pre-made script when doing their cold calling? What are the things you should concentrate on when you make the inital first call to a business?
Thanks in advance for your responses,
William

Don't do it! Everyone hates telemarketer. 28 states already have a no call list. Go shopping to small business and talk to the manager/owner while being at the store.

Don't do cold calling here, but I would advise that if you do decide you must do it, be prepared.
Another host in the city I live in called me this past week and told me that he "offered cheaper hosting rates than what I was paying now," and wondered if I'd like to host my business with him. (??)
Word of caution: Don't use that approach ;), know who you're talking to, and have your facts straight. The worst thing I imagine you can do is discredit yourself in the first five seconds of the phone call.
Personally, if it's a local business, I would try the face-to-face approach. Go in and introduce yourself, leave a rates schedule, or something like that.
Just my two cents!

I've tried doing that, but I'm a low self-esteem kinda person, so after 25 rejections, I gave up.
