While talking to one the other day I discovered that they have over 150 domains registered through Network Solutions and are paying around $30/year per domain! I've always used godaddy for my domains and have never had a problem, but after reading the messages here I see a lot of complaints about godaddy. Any suggestions as to who I should recommend? Their business depends on the website - I do not want to be the one to recommend someone then have the whole thing fall apart!

I'd suggest either NameCheap ($8.88), eNom (Reseller Gold Basic 8.95 with $1495 deposit, ignore Reseller title), or Moniker ($6.95 but join NamePros forum first to get this price).

But best to keep your mouth shut than recommend a service you haven't even tried, from people you don't know. "Nobody ever got fired for recommending IBM" (or maybe they should have).

Well, for that volume, i think use mydomain.com (aka namesdirect ) is good idea. The control panel is very amigable to manage multiple domains.

I have with them around 70 transfers from Registerfly at 5 USD , and planning to increase to 102 to get the 6.60 Price.

Anyone eNom based is a good idea, I have my own reseller account with them, couldn't be happier :)

I don't like their control panel. But Directi is a reliable registrar and their prices are cheap.

I like eNom's control panel and dislike Directi's :) You can always find opposing opinions.

If you mean that one client has over 150 domain names with Network Solutions, 1 suggestion is have that client contact them and ask if they're entitled to some kind of "bulk discount".

The 2 things, arguably, you dont mess with in web hosting when its going fine are databases and domains. You should do everything you can to protect them and if the client himself does not care that he is paying around $30/domain then why are you ? I mean I know you are doing this out of good will but if something messes up and they lose one of their domains, since you say their domains are everything to them, you are the one to blame.

Actually they do care about the price - the whole subject came up when i said how i was paying around $6.50 a domain. Is it that common to have domain problems when switching registrars? I've never had a problem, but then again I've never had a business critical domain. I guess I'll start with talking to Network Solutions and asking about bulk rates, then look into eNom and the others mentioned. I think a lot of their names are just different spellings and other 'sound alike' domains - maybe I'll start with moving the ones that aren't really used and leave the main 10 or so alone...
