I'm currently looking into the two plans that Nocster.com has for $99 (monthly) and $299 (setup - I've heard that this can be spread over multiple months). I want anyone's opinion who's used a Duron or Celeron dedicated server, of course if you've actually used one of these plans on Nocster, it would be even better for some feedback on that, Personally I am an AMD fan, That's all I've worked with, but that's just for Normal PC's and Laptops, not Dedicated Servers. So any feedback as to pros and cons of each would be greatly appreciated! :)

Personally I would go with the Celery stick but I too am an AMD fan. I've heard ( not from personal experience ) that the AMD can heat up and in a closed box this may be an issue later down the road but if the CPU speeds are comparable its really just a matter of choice I think. Good luck.

We have quite a few AMD servers and all working fine. We only have problem with one AMD with plesk installed. Well never try Celeron before. I think its best to have those having both celeron and AMD to comment. ;)

One thing i am not sure with. Does it matter where the AMD is hosted? Cos' i heard a lot of problems with AMD at one place but never heard any probles with AMD at another place...not sure.

AMDs are perfectly fine, provided you can get the OS to recognize the CPUs and their true clock speeds (and both of them, in some cases where you have dual CPUs).....

AMD cpus and linux kernels are sometimes not exactly on the same page as far as support. This has been improving gradually in recent months, most of the newer linux 2.4 series kernels coming out of the box with RedHat can handle AMD cpus right from the start, even dual processors.

Basically, if you use AMDs in your unix(linux) systems, just make sure you have somebody around that can tweak/resinstall/upgrade your OS kernel if the need arises.

Otherwise.....
Celeron / Duron = exactly the same thing, in a nutshell.
