Hey guys, new to the forum and looking for some insight...

I currently have a reseller CPanel account and I’m looking to colo my own box.

I'd like a control panel that is fairly simple to use and compares to CPanel, but I really need something with a GPL style price tag

Anything out there like that?

You can consider directadmin though it is not so feature rich like cpanel.

Directadmin is perfect, lightweight and much more easy to use then cpanel.

What is your exact budget? I am not sure that you can find something comparable to cPanel, but also cheaper.

Direct Admin, Plesk is pretty cost effective... if you don't care about control panels you can always try out webmin.

Webmin works fine. So does ISPConfig. Both are freebies

However, I like DirectAdmin for the single server panels I gotta pay for.

We went with ISPConfig, never been happier, I like being able to touch every part of the system (I'm a php programmer). What's more it has a fantastic following and great support, something I found lacking with most of the pay for use control panels, at least on the pre-sales side.

That said with a non cpanel CP, you have some education for your users. Not bad if you spend the time really learning the ins and outs of the panel. No matter what you decide on, spend at least a week trying to break things, learn the tricks, really read the forums and community support that each offers.

Well i'd still recommend cpanel cuz customers like it more than everything else. So i think it would cover your additional costs.
