Greetings All !

Being a reseller who started about 8 months ago, I'm a bit hesitant to list my company in those big "Web Hosting Directory" sites / listings.

I guess I feel like I'm too much of a "small timer" to be listing my company there... that perhaps people will discover and post that I'm just a reseller... or that my company is really very small.

I was hoping to hear from some more experienced resellers about their experiences with these Hosting Directories.. and at what point they think a reseller should list themselves in them ?

I guess I'm my own worst enemy to growing my company. My own insecurities are blocking me here.

Thanks !

Dave,

Fear is good :), it keeps you from doing dumb things. In this case, your fears are unjustified. You would be surprised at how many web hosts are resellers with just a few accounts.

You have to start somewhere to grow your business and the directories are the best way to drive free advertising to your site, of course, then it is up to you to turn that traffic into customers.

Only advertise if you have confidence.

Be proud of your product and offer your customers a complete website (nothing worse than checking out half finished sites) with complete services - make sure everything is working :)

Advertsing is a funny game - we get traffic from some pretty unexpected sources, and very little from others we thought were a sure thing. The best advice is to get out there and constantly find different avenues. The hosting directories are a start. No-one will find you if they don't know you're there so there's no such thing as too much *responsible* advertising.
