View Full Version : ResellerConnection.com Advertising <Issue>

The purpose of this thread is to document our bad experience dealing with resellerconnection.com (http://www.resellerconnection.com) and to warn future advertisers.

In short, we purchased 1 month of advertising after they claimed to deliver more than 100k impressions per month. A week went by, we checked the online stat and realized we would only get 3 to 4k impressions in a month, which is FAR BELOW what they claimed. We contacted them about this and was told they will look into it but since then they had been ignoring us.

Full story:

May 10, 2007 - We contacted them for advertising rates, the sales (Rodney Ringler) offered us a standard banner (468x60) and a skyscraper (120x600) for $425/mo. Like all advertisers, we asked how much impressions we will receive. Their response: "You should receive over a hundred thousand impressions from each banner". Based on this claim, we decided to give them a try and sent them the payment (see attachment #1).

May 15, 2007 - Sent them the banners and the campaign was set up the same day, you can still see our banners on their website (http://www.resellerconnection). We were provided with online access to the advertiser's report. Everything was good up to this point.

May 24, 2007 - We logged in to view the advertiser's report. To our surprise, we were only getting about 100 views per day (see attachment #2). At this rate, we will only get 3 to 4k impressions per month (which is far less than the claimed 100k impressions). We sent an email to voice our concern and were told "Let me investigate and see what is happening with the campaign and traffic". That was the last email they care to send.

May 27, 2007 - Followed up with them to see if they have found anything - no response.

May 29, 2007 - At this point, it was obvious that they lied to us. They will never be able to deliver 100k impressions, not even 10% of this! Essentially, we paid $425 for 3-4k impressions, this means the effective rate is more than $100 CPM (a ridiculous rate if I must say)! In fact, we were not really expecting full 100k impressions; as long as we stay within $20 CPM, we will be happy. The fact that they tricked us into paying so much money for so little traffic really got me furious. We no longer wanted to continue advertising with them, and sent them an email to request for the ad to be stopped and a 50% refund be sent (for the UNUSED advertising period). We were hoping to solve this issue peacefully, looks like it was a wishful dream.

May 30, 2007 - We proceeded to solve this issue "formally" by filing a PayPal dispute. Same thing, nothing from them.

May 31, 2007 - I am spending my beautiful day writing this wonderful review of resellerconnection.com . Their unethical business practices should be made known to the public.

ResellerConnection will lie to you and trick you into advertising with them. Beware if you ever consider advertising with them. Good luck.

Thank you for the alert. That is one of the sites that I was considering advertising with. I know now to stay way. Thanks again.

ChoonKeng,

We never lied or tricked you. We gave you stats based on history and can back those up.

We didn't respnd within 1 day because we were out of the office that day.

We have offered you a refund or to add time to the campaign appropriately.

We have been in business for over 6 years and have had advertisers with us for over 5 years that are still with us.

Best Regards,
Rodney

History? Was the stats for 6 years ago or last month? Never mind, I don't need those information anymore. The attachment in my first post is a true capture of my advertiser report and that is what I see.

I didn't receive anymore email from you since May 24, which was 7 days ago.

We have offered you a refund or to add time to the campaign appropriately.
I will be happy with a full refund.

We have not lost 90% of our traffic. This campaign was not implemented correctly and was not getting the impressions it should have been because its rotation wasn't set right in our ad system.

I was out of town and before I could get back and troubleshoot it, this customer choose to air his complaints.

Given the hard feelings we offered to extend the campaign accordingly or refunded it. We apologized to this customer for the issues.

Best Regards,
Rodney

Now you are back in town so I would suggest cleaning this up and letting everyone know the update.

If this is true, why am I offered a refund just for the remainder of the month? Shouldn't you compensate for making a mistake on your part (and that I received less than I should have)?

He may be settling this with the OP offline, I hope so anyway.

He did just read the thread though and quickly logged out.

We received a refund of $215 for the remainder of the month.

For the first half of the campaign which was not refunded, we received 1894 views for $210. Effective CPM rate = $111.

He did not answer my question about compensation. Never mind.

I'm sorry to hear there wasn't a happy ending. :( But definitely - thank you for alerting the rest of us to this. As I said before, that was a site I was considering advertising our services on.
